Insect Mother Simulation Law

Asher Bayliss was a renowned pharmacist whose fame spread throughout the Empire. He never expected to become a casualty of his fiancée and younger brother’s romance.

When he was framed and left for dead on a desolate planet, he heard a heavenly voice:

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, you have activated the Bug Mother Simulator.]

[Set out at once to find offspring you can command.]

[Tip: Not every bug can be tamed. Choose carefully. Failure will result in death and a restart.]

So Asher decided to try taming the monster beside him.

The next second, it ran him through.

Asher: ...Great. Let’s not simulate that again next time.

*

After dying and restarting countless times, Asher finally reached an “ending”:

The pale, beautiful young man ascended a throne built from heaps of bones, cared for by a host of shape-shifting bugs.

Together, he and his brood formed the most powerful species in the entire interstellar realm.

As their kind grew stronger, every bug strained to rise above the status of “offspring” and become the Bug Mother’s mate.

But before the bugs could fan out their feathers and show off their charms, the cold-hearted beauty of a Bug Mother abandoned the large family behind him and secretly left the desolate planet.

The swarm: ? Where did our very large Mom/wife go?

*

After escaping the desolate planet alive, the first thing Asher did was return to the Imperial Capital to exact his revenge.

Only after settling his old and new scores did he prepare to return to his old work and research potions. Then disaster struck: an unknown alien army was attacking the Empire.

Asher: Can’t I have just a couple of peaceful days?

*

In Imperial Year 1224, a strange insect army from beyond the borders of known space descended upon the skies above the Imperial Capital.

Dark clouds blotted out the sun, as if the apocalypse had arrived.

As humanity panicked, the leader of the insect army declared, “We have come to escort Her Highness, our esteemed Bug Mother, home.”

Hidden among the crowd, Asher was stunned. Weren’t they the little bugs that used to follow him around, calling him “Mom”?

Thinking of the insatiable swarm that had once followed him around, Asher, who had abandoned his mates and offspring, resolved to keep his secret identity hidden. But then the long-silent Bug Mother Simulator suddenly started acting up:

[Congratulations, Host, you have achieved Perfect Bug Mother.]

[Your reward is about to be issued.]

The next second, Asher transformed in full view of everyone. 🦋

A pair of tiny, beautiful, translucent wings sprouted from his back, fluttering uncontrollably.

The insect army: (going mad) (screaming) (crawling happily in the sunshine) (wants to lick the little wings)

Asher: ...Can I still TD?

*

It parasitized him and gave him a new life.

It would become his strongest child, and his only mate.

Notes:

1. There is a simulator System, and the attribute panels take up a fair amount of space early on.

2. Lots of original worldbuilding, lots of original worldbuilding, lots of original worldbuilding! Important things bear repeating.

3. Both leads are sexually inexperienced, the pairing is set, and there are no children.

4. Please don’t project real-life people onto these fictional bugs.

5. This is a fictional setting unrelated to reality. Please don’t draw real-world parallels.

6. The story features a Bug Mother setting. New readers may want to learn about it first. The protagonist will develop nonhuman traits later on.
