The Cannon Fodder Has No Intention of Saving the Male Lead

[Weibo: @Chang An Mu Xi Niang. See my ongoing and completed novels in my profile.] I Xu Zhili dreams that he's a disposable character in a male-oriented novel, with fewer than ten chapters of screen time. He grew up in the mountains and returned to his family in the city at seventeen, only to face the cold favoritism of his highly educated parents, the disdain of his outstanding siblings, and horrifying school bullying. Led on by the male protagonist, who is in a similar predicament, he jumps off a building, becoming the first casualty and stepping stone in the protagonist's descent into darkness. At that moment, Xu Zhili shows up uninvited at his family's door: "..." If one has to go, then let's all go together. II The male protagonist, Wang Jingmin, lives in poverty and struggles to get by on scholarships. After a female supporting character pursues him passionately for half a year, the aloof good student descends to the mortal world for love. A month later, he is cruelly dumped, mocked, and bullied at school. It turns out he was just a plaything for the children of the powerful. The female supporting character is the dealer, and she takes the whole pot. After using a disposable character's life to get a recommendation for university admission, the male protagonist is recognized by his wealthy family. He is caught between his studies and the infighting of the rich, suffering from a falling-out with his siblings, betrayal by his confidante, a mentor's treachery, and his biological father using him as a whetstone for his beloved son. He falls completely into darkness, slaughtering his way through the world and nearly losing his humanity. The only reason he nearly loses it, rather than losing it completely, is that the female lead is there to help him every time he claws his way out of the bloody depths of hell. Though she only helps him on a whim, she becomes the sole bright moonlight in his miserable life. In short, this is a melodramatic wish-fulfillment novel full of cliched tropes: youthful angst, wealthy family power struggles, and a twisted man's redemption. It became a massive hit thanks to its unconventional protagonist-torture and its satisfying build-up before the payoff. III Now, as a transfer student, Xu Zhili faces his deskmate Wang Jingmin, whose hand is about to be broken. What will he choose? A: Take the female lead's role and save the male protagonist. B: Switch classes, get as far away as possible, and lie low until the end. Xu Zhili: (screams) (turns into a monkey) (swings around) (slaps everyone silly) (spits in the male protagonist's face) (swings away, completely satisfied) Thanks for asking. I'm still reliably losing my mind today. Content warnings: 1. Everything is fictional. 2. Unhinged fiction. The original novel has no female lead. 3. Relatively speaking, the gong suffers more. The idea was recorded on 2023.03.31. Theme: Care for the physical and mental health of young people. Put an end to all forms of violence.
