There's No Shore to Return To

A prodigal can turn back, but there's no shore to return to.

Yu An loved to have fun from the time he was little. Once he figured out his sexual orientation as a teenager, he decided to live in the moment and sleep around, leaving a string of broken hearts in his wake and earning a reputation for being easy.

He thought he'd spend his whole life living a wild, unattached existence. But one day, someone named Xu Ning suddenly appeared before him and gently told him he loved him.

As a veteran of the dating scene, Yu An didn't believe him, dismissing it as a joke and waving him away.

But Xu Ning put down roots in his life, appearing again and again, drawing closer each time, and involving himself in everything Yu An did.

Under Xu Ning's relentless warmth, Yu An went from pushing him away to gradually getting used to him, even finding himself moved.

Xu Ning's passionate devotion was impossible to resist. At last, Yu An fell for him and wanted to try loving someone properly, to try settling down.

But after they made their relationship official, Xu Ning suddenly changed, barely giving him the time of day. Yu An tried to put up with it, but finally broke down when he saw Xu Ning in bed with someone else.

He tearfully asked Xu Ning why he had betrayed him, but all he got was a cold laugh.

A cold, hateful laugh.

Xu Ning's face was full of hatred and disgust. He looked at Yu An as if he were his sworn enemy and asked whether he remembered someone named He Xu.

He was the ex-boyfriend Yu An had abandoned, who later took his own life.

And he was Xu Ning's younger brother.

Yu An collapsed to the floor in despair, feeling as helpless as if he had fallen into an icy abyss.

Later, he abandoned his dignity and begged Xu Ning desperately not to leave, but Xu Ning shoved him away:

"A scumbag like you doesn't deserve to be happy."
