Jiang Xiao x Li Chengxi

At Nanhe High School, they were opposites in every way.

One was Jiang Xiao, the center of attention wherever he went. His family background, looks, and personality were all impeccable. Everyone liked him and wanted to be friends with him. Heads turned whenever he walked into a room.

The other was Li Chengxi, always ranked first in the school. Aside from his exquisitely beautiful face, he was extremely aloof and always kept to himself. Almost no one spoke to him.

They were in different classes on the same floor. Their lives never crossed, and it seemed they had never interacted.

During a summer downpour, Jiang Xiao and his friends ran into a bookstore to take shelter.

Li Chengxi was sitting at the counter reading. The loose white shirt he wore was backlit, outlining his slender shoulders. He looked thin and delicate, with a cool, distant air.

Li Chengxi glanced up at him.

Jiang Xiao was already chilled from the rain. At that moment, a wave of heat rose through him, like a fever about to break.

Jiang Xiao brought a few books to the counter to pay. His friends teased him about becoming an artsy type.

Jiang Xiao ignored them. He set the books down, then pressed his hand firmly on them just as Li Chengxi reached to scan them.

His friends fell silent.

Li Chengxi looked up again and met a pair of deep, dark eyes, full of aggression.

Jiang Xiao kept his eyes fixed on Li Chengxi's face and drawled, "So, when are you finally going to say yes to me, Li Chengxi?"

He did it on purpose, Li Chengxi thought.

He had broken their agreement:

They had promised to act like strangers in front of other people.
