The Sign-In System Livestreams Across the Dynasties [Sky Screen]

When Mingyue wakes up one morning, a sign-in System has suddenly appeared in her mind.

All she has to do is answer one question each day to complete a sign-in and get a chance to win a prize.

The odds of winning a "small fortune" in the prize pool are only one in a hundred million. Mingyue has always been unlucky, so of course she doesn't expect to be the lucky winner.

But seeing "one yuan" and "five yuan" deposited into her account every day still leaves her utterly crushed.

All she can say is, something is better than nothing.

What Mingyue doesn't know is that the sign-in System's cross-world livestream module has already linked to her beloved pet, Niannian the Bichon Frise.

At the same time, the livestream descends as a sky screen upon the Qin, Han, Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties.

[Host, name five ancient emperors who made a deep impression on you and explain why.]

The First Emperor of Qin, Emperor Wu of Han, Emperor Taizong of Tang, Emperor Taizu of Song, and Old Zhu all gaze at the sky screen with anticipation, only to be utterly floored by Mingyue's unconventional answers.

[Host, recite an entire poem or ci lyric that you like.]

Literati across the dynasties start passionately promoting their idols, only to be completely won over by a single poem, "Qinyuanchun."

As a humanities student who loves history, Mingyue can handle all of the above with ease. But the questions from the sign-in System cover just about everything.

[Host, explain why you can't catch fish where bubbles rise to the surface of a lake.]

[Briefly explain how soccer balls and table tennis balls curve in flight.]

In response, Mingyue can only sneakily pull up Baidu. I'm sweating buckets here, folks. This isn't even an exam, so it shouldn't count as cheating, right?

With the sign-in System, Mingyue revisits everything she learned during nine years of compulsory education.

The histories of the five dynasties also take different turns toward the future.

Notes for readers:

1. The five dynasties in this story, Qin, Han, Tang, Song, and Ming, are all parallel worlds. In some dynasties, princesses succeed to the throne.

2. The heroine and her dog share a deep mother-and-son bond, so the dog is referred to as "he," not "it."

3. The heroine believes until the very end that this is just a sign-in System. She doesn't know that the sky screen is livestreaming to the various dynasties.

4. The heroine has storylines involving civil-service and graduate school exams.
