This story's blurb:
[Free-spirited, rakish, sickly, beautiful-but-tragic bottom X fake-weakling, truly sinister, ruthless, mad top]
Gu Qi was carefree and uninhibited, a shameless rogue. One day, he transmigrated into a book and became a sickly, beautiful young marquis.
People of the time often saw the most dazzling young man in Jincheng: his frail body seemed too weak to support his clothes, yet he lived in luxury and was as graceful as a painting.
Gu Qi's mission was to become the "eternal moonlight in the hearts of all":
He had to die heroically in a grand spectacle, so the whole world would remember him.
When assassins entered the palace, he precisely took a blade meant for the Emperor while saving him, then coughed up blood with dazzlingly tragic acting. Satisfied, he breathed his last.
But when he opened his eyes again...
A hidden hand had fished him out of the underworld, leaving him with a body riddled with chronic illness.
Gu Qi refused to give up. At death's door, he took his acting to new heights, his eyes bright as stars and his smile carefree. He lifted the forbidden technique suppressing his injuries and triggered a self-detonation, blasting an escape route open for his companions.
But when he opened his eyes again...
Wanted posters were plastered all over the land:
Gu Yanxi had murdered his comrades and committed treason. Whoever captured him would receive one hundred thousand gold and the title of marquis over a thousand households.
"Who keeps ruining my plans? They won't let me die well, but they won't let me live well either? Damn it, I won't spare them!"
Gu Qi pushed his battered body to its limits, dodging pursuers and seeking the truth, while clearing his name and rebuilding his reputation.
When the Nanman invaded, he pressed a hand to his lips and coughed as he entered the Ten Thousand Mountains. With unmatched wisdom, he won the people's hearts and forged an eternal alliance with Shu Han.
When the Wei army laid siege to a city, he let blood soak his black armor and led three thousand elderly and infirm soldiers in defending the isolated city, driving the enemy back a thousand miles.
The people who had once scorned him built shrines in his honor and erected towering monuments.
The officials who had once despised him submitted a joint petition, requesting that he become chancellor.
Even the young emperor, who had hated him with a passion, knelt and slapped himself, begging him to uphold the Han dynasty and reclaim the Central Plains.
At last, Gu Qi delivered another astonishing performance, dying as a general and becoming a legend for the ages.
But when he opened his eyes again...
...he was in the bed of the enemy king.
On the bed, the blind youth restrained his murderous madness. His fingers traced Gu Qi's temples and lips, his breath brushing Gu Qi's neck, at once icy and tender:
"Long time no see, my beloved husband of one night. You stole my wedding back then. Are you planning to seduce me and then abandon me now?"
*
Years ago, Gu Qi had casually rescued a blind little crybaby from a red bridal sedan.
He pried open the little one's clenched fingers, one by one.
He cleaned every inch of his battered body.
With patience and a sweet osmanthus candy, he knocked on the door of the boy's tightly closed heart.
"Ninth Brother, why did you save me?"
Gu Qi stood aloof from the world, his fingertips covering the edge of his colorless, nearly transparent lips:
Ahem, whoever admits he was attracted by looks is a dog!
"Ninth Brother, I want to stay with you forever.
Please... please don't abandon me."
"Little Horse, I promise. As long as I'm alive, I'll look after you."
Gu Qi hugged and kissed the little crybaby and lifted him up high, then turned around and arranged to sacrifice himself.
*
When Gu Qi learned that the "little crybaby" had grown into a sinister emperor and was the culprit repeatedly stopping him from faking his death and escaping, his frail, pale body had nowhere left to hide:
"Uh... is it too late to beg for mercy?"
As his shoulders shook violently, he coughed up a pool of crimson blood.
Sima Qian sneered, licked the blood from Gu Qi's lips, savoring its metallic sweetness, then slammed him down beneath him like a ferocious demon:
"What a beautiful day for a perfect match. My husband, shall we finally make up for the wedding night we never had?"
The sensation of being utterly consumed shot straight to his head.
Gu Qi's life was already down to its last tenth or so.
Wait, why should dying heroically be limited to one particular method?
A new idea suddenly came to him.
That night, the palace servants once again heard drunken, delirious cries from the Emperor's bedchamber:
"...Your Majesty... harder~~~"

[Reader's Guide and Content Warnings]
[PLEASE READ THIS, IN BOLD CAPS]
[This story focuses on the plot. Although the leads interact from Chapter 1, their relationship is not romantic in the early part. If you only want romance, this story probably isn't for you. Covers face in embarrassment.]
1. About the plot:
This is genuinely a plot-driven male-lead story, mostly focused on [court politics + the martial world], with a slight wuxia flavor. The plot takes up more space than the romance. The author just isn't very good at writing blurbs.
All I can say is that the blurb is accurate, and everything in it will appear in the story.
The main story begins with the protagonist "stealing a bride." The early part has a sort of [raising a child] plot, leaning toward [a road-trip adventure, solving crises while fighting monsters and raising a child], while the middle and later parts focus more on court politics.
My tastes will always be old-fashioned and wildly out of date, so please bear with me.
2. About the romance:
A slow burn at first, then a blazing inferno later on.
If you only want to see the romance, I recommend starting at Chapter 62.
3. About the characters:
The bottom really is beautiful, powerful, and tragic, but he's also got a bit of a comedian's talent, sometimes acting like a ridiculous show-off. There will also be plenty of descriptions of his frail health. That's just what we like.
The top looks like a little boy at first. Even after he returns to his adult form, he continues to disguise himself as a "weak little white flower" for quite a while. He doesn't reveal his true villainous-boss self until later.
Don't believe him! His "weakness" is completely fake! He's genuinely evil!
4. About the setting:
The story only borrows the backdrop of the warlord chaos at the end of the Eastern Han dynasty. The characters and events are basically all made up. If any figures based on real historical people appear, their exact names will be obscured. Just treat them as Easter eggs, and don't read too much into it.

My upcoming historical transmigration story, Did the Marquis Spit Blood Today?, is open for pre-orders.
[A boastful but kind-hearted bottom X a sinister, ruthless, wheelchair-bound sickly beauty top]
#CourtroomCaseEpisodes + Rivalry, EnemiesToLovers#
After Xiao Hang died in a school bus accident, he transmigrated into a useless little prince with an intellectual disability.
On the very day he transmigrated, before he had figured anything out, he accidentally caused Xie Yan, the Jingyuan Marquis, who suffered from a chronic illness and couldn't walk properly, to fall into a lake.
Xie Yan was serving as the head of the Court of Judicial Review, and was the top villainous official in the Great Ye.
He used his position to form cliques and enrich himself, persecuting loyal officials with every ruthless tactic at his disposal.
People often saw the sinister, sickly figure sitting rigidly in his wheelchair, passing over mountains of corpses and leaving heaps of bones in his wake.
When Xie Yan was pulled from the water, he coughed out a cloud of cold, bloody mist, and droplets froze into icicles at the tips of his hair.
He glared at Xiao Hang. In his icy eyes lay something like the depths of hell, forged into thousands upon thousands of sharp swords, any one of which could kill with a single strike.
Xiao Hang thought he was about to die when a heavenly voice suddenly rang out:
Well done!
You are specially granted a transmigration mission: make Xie Yan so angry he dies!
If Xiao Hang can make Xie Yan cough up a cumulative three sheng of blood, the transmigration world's Divine Lord will send him back to modern times so he can prevent the tragedy and save the lives of everyone on the bus.
Xiao Hang: If I can go back and save people and eliminate a scourge in the Great Ye, this is an amazing deal! I'm in. I have to do it!
*
So Xiao Hang started thinking up ways to mess with Xie Yan every day. He followed Xie Yan around whenever he investigated a case, and his outrageous stunts included, but weren't limited to: arranging a ghost marriage between Xie Yan and a corpse; cooking Xie Yan a meal with corpse oil; leading Xie Yan to a treasured burial site he'd picked out for him, then personally shoveling the dirt...
The Great Ye court was in turmoil, and strange cases cropped up one after another.
Demons sucking out marrow, vengeful ghosts luring away souls, red and white wedding processions colliding, snake babies devouring people...
Xiao Hang caused trouble left and right.
Xie Yan coughed blood in torrents.
And the mysteries... were somehow getting solved one after another?
The court officials were deeply worried for Xiao Hang:
Did the dim-witted Seventh Prince really think the Jingyuan Marquis had spared his life because his face was so lovable that no one could bring themselves to kill him?
It was clearly because, whenever Xiao Hang did something absurd, the Jingyuan Marquis could find a crucial clue to the case in it.
His wheelchair rolled past the others, and Xie Yan spoke with all the merciless brutality one would expect:
"The ministers are right. I merely want to let the Seventh Prince live a little longer, so I can torture him slowly later."
*
No one could have guessed:
That year, the "villainous official" Xie Yan overturned old wrongful convictions and eliminated corrupt forces.
That year, the "fool" Xiao Hang received the Crown Prince's investiture treasures and brought peace back to the realm.
The palace gates of the nine heavens opened, and envoys from every land bowed before the imperial throne.
The two stepped out of the royal court, each shooting the other a glare like thunder and fire, as if they could devour one another alive.
The civil and military officials felt their hearts sink:
Oh no, oh no. The Great Ye has finally achieved peace, so why are the Jingyuan Marquis and the Crown Prince still at each other's throats?
No one knew that Xiao Hang and Xie Yan had arranged to meet that night at a private estate outside the capital...
...in bed.
The moon rose high, and candlelight flickered red.
Xiao Hang stared at the tally of Xie Yan's blood loss on the screen inside his mind, steeled himself, and prepared to carry out his final plan.
"With a body like yours, Marquis, I doubt you're up to it."
He lay on his side on the bed, taunting him with brazen confidence.
Xie Yan gently wiped the bloodstain from the corner of his mouth, then slowly used both legs to support himself upright. He turned around and pinned Xiao Hang beneath him, his long fingers opening Xiao Hang's collar and roaming across his chest.
Xiao Hang shivered at Xie Yan's icy fingertips. His gaze instinctively dodged the looming shadow spreading over his body, his eyelashes trembling:
"...M-Marquis, what are you doing?"
Xie Yan nearly kissed Xiao Hang's pale-red ear. His breath, both metallic-sweet and icy, brushed over him. A dangerous light glimmered in his deep eyes, three parts sharp and five parts seductive:
"You'll find out whether I can perform, Your Highness, when you try me."

After reading it, I saw that the author has been asking for comments, so I wrote some thoughts. This book has a small but refined feel. The author's words are very particular, elegant and smart, the verbs are very deft, and the calligraphy is very concise. It gives you the feeling of reading poetry. It describes a relatively complete story in a relatively small space. The rhythm is very comfortable and the writing is very coherent. The ending is a bit rushed and I always feel that something is missing. From the end to the extra chapter, there seems to be very little description of what Gu Qi is thinking. Maybe it is because Gu Qi is confused. I can only guess. Gu Qi loves Xiao Ma, but I don't know about Da Ma, but seeing Gu Qi trying to escape and calling Da Ma your lord, he must have been frightened. When I saw Gu Qi's death in the extra story, I agreed. This was exactly the ending he should have had. He was too tired. He said it was to complete the task and for the sake of his family and country. He dragged his sick body and lingered. He did too many things, but in the end most of them failed. The family was destroyed and the Shu Han did not exist. His death was something I could understand, he was so tired. But I'm a little bit curious. Why is Gu Qi, a modern person, so loyal to his emperor? Why does he work hard and without complaint to save Liu Pei over and over again? Why is he willing to sacrifice his own life to free An Le Gong? Perhaps to him, King Anle symbolized the happy years in Shu Han that he could never go back to. To Gu Qi, it no longer mattered who he was, he just wanted to die. To be able to stay in this world, Gu Qi needs to have every tie that he can't let go of, but the country is ruined and the family is destroyed, his lover is like a phantom, his deep gratitude is exhausted, his teachers and friends are dead and alive, and there are no stars in his temples, there are no ties in the world. He was so carefree when he was young, but now he can only be trapped in the palace. He no longer cares about the mission or anything else, he just wants to die. Gu Qi, Gu Qi, where will you end up? Gu Qi's Qi Duqi looks like a slut to me, busy and restless. Gu Qi has been like a flying bird these past years, tossing and turning, a tired bird can hardly return to its nest.
