[Abrasive on the outside, pure-hearted bottom × sinister, ruthless, sickly wheelchair-using top]
#NemesisRomance #EnemiesToLovers #OppositesWhoClash
Expected to start in June 2026
After Xiao Hang dies in a school bus accident, he wakes up in the body of a useless little prince with an impaired mind.
On the day he arrives, before he has figured out anything, he accidentally causes Xie Yan, Marquis of Jingyuan, who suffers from a chronic illness and cannot walk properly, to fall into a lake.
Xie Yan is the serving Minister of Justice, the number-one corrupt official in Great Ye.
Abusing his position, he builds factions for personal gain and persecutes loyal officials. When investigating cases and interrogating suspects, he has countless ruthless methods at his disposal.
People always see that sinister, sickly figure seated in his wheelchair, rolling through mountains of corpses and leaving piles of white bones in his wake.
When he is pulled from the water, Xie Yan coughs up a cloud of icy blood, and droplets on his hair freeze into icicles in an instant.
He glares at Xiao Hang, his cold eyes like the deepest hell, forged into thousands upon thousands of sharp blades. Any one of them could fly out and kill with a single strike.
Just as Xiao Hang thinks he's about to bite the dust, a heavenly voice suddenly descends:
Well done!
You are specially authorized to undertake a transmigration mission: make Xie Yan furious enough to die.
If Xiao Hang can make Xie Yan cough up a total of three pints of blood, the God of the Transmigration Realm will send him back to the modern world so he can prevent the tragedy and save the lives of everyone on the bus.
Xiao Hang: I can go back and save people and cut out Great Ye's cancer at the same time? How could I pass up a deal like this? I'm in!
*
So Xiao Hang starts plotting every day to mess with Xie Yan. He follows him around whenever he investigates a case, pulling stunts including, but not limited to:
Arranging a ghost marriage between Xie Yan and a corpse; cooking him a meal with corpse oil; taking him to see the tomb he picked out for him, then digging into the earth with a shovel himself...
The court of Great Ye is in turmoil, and strange cases keep cropping up.
Demons sucking out people's marrow, vengeful ghosts luring away souls, red and white wedding processions colliding, snake babies devouring people...
Xiao Hang keeps pulling tricks.
Xie Yan keeps coughing up blood.
And the mysteries... somehow get solved one after another?
The officials are deeply worried for Xiao Hang:
Does the brainless Seventh Prince really think the Marquis of Jingyuan spares his life because his lovable face makes people too fond of him to kill?
It's obviously because whenever he does something bizarre, the Marquis of Jingyuan manages to unlock a crucial clue to the case.
The wheelchair rolls past the crowd, and Xie Yan speaks with vicious menace:
"The officials are right. This marquis is letting the Seventh Prince keep breathing for now, so I can torment him slowly later."

No one could have imagined it:
That year, the "corrupt official" Xie Yan overturned an old miscarriage-of-justice case and wiped out the evil forces.
That year, the "fool" Xiao Hang received the Crown Prince's insignia and restored peace to the realm.
The palace gates open beneath the nine heavens, and the rulers of every land bow before the imperial throne.
The two leave the imperial court, each shooting the other a murderous glare that looks ready to devour him whole.
The officials watch, their hearts sinking halfway:
It's over, it's over. Great Ye has finally found peace, so why are the Marquis of Jingyuan and the Crown Prince still at each other's throats?
No one knows that Xiao Hang and Xie Yan meet that night at a private estate outside the capital...
...in bed.
The moon hangs high, and candlelight glows red.
Xiao Hang stares at the tally of Xie Yan's bloody coughs on the screen in his mind, steels himself, and prepares to carry out his final plan.
"With a body like yours, my lord, I doubt you can manage it."
He lies on his side on the bed, provocatively taunting him.
Xie Yan gently wipes the blood from the corner of his mouth, then slowly pushes himself upright with his legs. He turns and pins Xiao Hang beneath him, long fingers opening his collar and roaming across his chest.
Xiao Hang shivers at Xie Yan's icy fingertips. His gaze instinctively darts away from the imposing shadow looming over him, his lashes trembling.
"...M-My lord, what are you doing?"
Xie Yan almost kisses Xiao Hang's flushed ear, breathing out a sharp, chilling sweetness. His deep eyes gleam with a mix of three parts menace and five parts desire.
"Whether this marquis can manage it or not, Your Highness will have to find out for yourself."

[Reading Guide + Content Warnings]
① This should count as a return to my comfort zone... right?
The plot consists of episodic cases with a slightly eerie atmosphere, plus a very, very small amount of court intrigue (though, given the author's intelligence, it's questionable whether that part will even make it in).
The romance follows the familiar #NemesisRomance #EnemiesToLovers formula. The top will dote on the bottom a lot in the later story.
② At first, the top is paralyzed from the waist down and completely unable to walk. With diligent rehabilitation, he'll regain a tiny bit of mobility later and be able to stand and shuffle slowly, but he won't fully recover. Most of the time, he'll still need his wheelchair.
③ I don't think there are any other warnings, except that this is a rather niche genre. I feel like the emotional dynamic between the CP will be pretty mainstream...
Theme: I cherish what is good in my heart, and though I face death nine times, I will not regret it.
