Xiao Deng woke from a nap to find that his house had collapsed. That was bad enough, but the food stores he'd kept for years had run away, too.
He followed their mark and discovered that two centuries had passed. The food store who had once obeyed his every word had become an exalted immortal.
His seven emotions and six desires had vanished completely. He'd become an emotionless, desireless block of ice, and had forgotten Xiao Deng entirely.
For a hungry Xiao Deng, this was a bolt from the blue. His feast had become plain, cold water.
With his little bundle on his back, he stood outside the immortal sect's gate and wailed.
When someone asked why he was so upset, Xiao Deng said miserably, “The Immortal Lord promised to feed me for the rest of my life. I only took a nap, and then he disappeared! He even cultivated the Emotionless Dao--”
“He promised to stay with me forever, and how many years has it been? He just abandoned me like that! What a heartless man! He took advantage of me and won't take responsibility!”
There was only one practitioner of the Emotionless Dao in the world: the Immortal Lord.
And the Immortal Lord was all alone, with no family or friends. He loved only all living beings.
People thought Xiao Deng was making up a story to scam them, and chased him away from the immortal sect's gate.
Three days later, a beautiful, frail, foolish, but incredibly gluttonous servant disciple appeared in the sect's outer court.
For some reason, though, anyone who got close to him gradually lost all desire and turned into a lie-flat couch potato.
Xiao Deng said nothing about this. He just wolfed down his steamed buns.
People say a father's debts fall to his children. Well, the Immortal Lord's debt could be paid by the sect.
A greedy Dream Abyss creature secretly devoured the entire sect.
But among all the tastes, sweet and sour, bitter, spicy, and salty, not one could compare to the sweetness of that young man blushing as he bowed with him in marriage at the bottom of the abyss.
Xiao Deng rubbed his still-unsatisfied belly and suddenly thought that he needed to cultivate his ingredients anew.

No one knew that the Immortal Lord had lost a portion of his memory.
A hundred years ago, his family had been slaughtered. His enemies flayed him, tore out his meridians and spiritual sea, and threw him into the Demon Realm to be devoured by countless demons.
He went into a qi deviation, and his spiritual sea and heart became a burning hell, beyond all possibility of repair.
But decades later, when someone rescued him from the far north, the flames had all gone out, and his spiritual sea, which should have been in ruins, had become a vast, gentle sea of flowers.
The Divine Lord knew that he had married and loved someone.
But he had forgotten.
