Remembering the Past

What does a god see just before dying...?

Did they really find what they were looking for among the memories flashing before their eyes as they died?

*

Their name was Asu no Sato.

They thought they should have been human, but... they weren't. In every sense of the word.

*

"The bluebird was never supposed to die, right..."

"I'm sorry, Lord Asu..."

In the first coffin Asu no Sato made, they buried their dearest friend.

*

"Was this... really worth it?"

"Of course!"

In the second coffin Asu no Sato made, they buried the old monk they admired.

*

"Lord Asu, the great onmyoji... has fallen."

"..."

In the second coffin Asu no Sato made, they buried the family member they had chosen for themselves.

*

"Mr. Asu, our lord..."

"So it's Kagaya's turn now."

In the third coffin Asu no Sato made, they buried a man worthy of everyone's love and respect.

*

"Brother Asu?"

"Sukesaku, look. Sakuraku and the others are safe here."

*

"Satoru, this time you can only add three times the sugar to the daifuku."

"No, no, Sato-chan~"

*

Asu no Sato will prepare a final resting place for themself, and then be reborn.
