She was born above the clouds, and the story between them began when she happened to look down upon the mortal world.

On the night of the full moon, atop the Forbidden City, Ye Gucheng was stabbed through the heart by a sharp sword. When he opened his eyes again, he saw nothing but an endless expanse of white.

He awoke in a vast palace that seemed to be built from white clouds. The woman standing before him watched him with keen interest.

"You don't seem surprised," she said.

"Am I still alive?"

"No, you're dead." As she spoke, she laid a hand on his shoulder.

Ye Gucheng felt nothing where she touched him. His body was truly dead.

That is, until he used fire stolen from the human world to set the palace that held him captive ablaze. The flames licked over his body, and in that freezing height, he finally received a moment of warmth.

And only a moment.
