Satan, Lord of Hell, jolted awake from his slumber. But when he opened his eyes, all he wanted to do was close them and lie back down.
A century ago, human technology hit a bottleneck and war broke out. With the world on the brink of destruction, the Creator descended, saved humanity, and charged the Church with restoring the world, then disappeared without a trace.
Over the past hundred years, human technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, reaching the point where humanity can travel among the stars and rule over space.
And he, the mighty Lord of Hell, had all his powers sealed by his archrival, the Creator. Through a bizarre twist of fate, he had become the "nightingale" offered to Pope Yileshade. Now he was lying in the heavily guarded Church's Holy Palace, his clothes in disarray.
Just as Lucifer was wondering how to stir up trouble and give his archrival a big "surprise," Pope Yileshade walked through the door. To Lucifer's shock, he had the exact same face as the Creator.
Lucifer: ? Interesting. Let's see what tricks my archrival is up to this time.
Yileshade was discovered in a desolate wasteland beyond the void. The Church took him in and raised him because he possessed divine power. After watching the white roses in the Holy Palace garden wither for the tenth time, Yileshade killed everyone who had tried to control him and became a pope with real power.
He had thought his heart would remain numb and indifferent for the rest of his life, but when he saw the mocking crimson eyes of the "nightingale" brought before him, his heart began to race.
Before, Yileshade: Transcendent and detached.
Now, Yileshade: Time to come down to earth.
Under the Church's oppressive rule, the rebels had always called themselves the New Hell. Their leader had never shown his face, directing them from thousands of miles away. Only when the leader finally appeared did everyone discover, to their shock, that he was the "nightingale" at the pope's side!
And when this beautiful leader returned, he was holding the hand of someone who looked exactly like the pope?
In the end, Yileshade decided to set the nightingale free, knowing his heart did not belong to him. But the beauty not only stayed, he also asked, "Who's better-looking, me or those old men at the Church?"
Yileshade: "You."
Beauty: "Do you want to be with me for the rest of your life?"
Yileshade: "...I do."
The beauty blinked. "Great. Then that's settled."
And so the beauty successfully packed up the pope and dragged him off to become the consort of the rebel leader.
Lucifer's diary: One second, he says Father loves me forever. The next, he says I can only play the domineering pope and his pampered beauty. Can this illness be cured?
Reader's guide:
* God x Lucifer pairing, one-on-one, no switching or breaking them up, happy ending.
* Fake tyrant pope, real Creator x spicy, scheming, two-faced, flirtatious beauty demon king. Yileshade is God's alternate account, online long-term; later he switches to the main account.
* The setting combines Hebrew mythology, the Church, and a spacefaring future. The basic framework draws on some reference material, but most of it is a fictional mishmash. Please don't take it as fact or imitate it.
* The plot requires it, so there is a tiny bit of political scheming at a kindergarten level. Please go easy on me.
* Lucifer: So why is he jealous of himself?
