After Working Three Jobs

Grin, the go-to temp worker for doomed male side characters

He works in three places at once.

Job site No. 1: He's the lifesaving friend in an infinite cosmic horror story.

He gets assigned to the same instance as the exceptionally gifted but overlooked protagonist, spreads kindness and goodness, saves people, dies when faced with a choice between two people, and sends the protagonist away.

No. 2: He's the childhood friend who sees ghosts in a supernatural city.

He's classmates with the protagonist. He calls to ask the protagonist to meet him and help him, wants to follow the protagonist out of the haunted domain, gets badly injured protecting the protagonist from danger, and then vanishes without a trace.

No. 3: He's a wealthy young master who loves good food.

He's roommates with the protagonist, whose cooking is darkly inventive. He gives the protagonist money and medicine, taste-tests his dishes, and drives him around. He gets into a car accident, hopes the protagonist will survive, leaves all his property to the protagonist in his will, and becomes obsessed with bringing the protagonist back to life. He dies again in pursuit of that obsession.

Before his work is even finished, the job sites merge!

Friend No. 1: I didn't let you down.

Friend No. 2: I finally found you...

Friend No. 3: I'm so glad you're alive.
