I Swear I'm Not Dating Myself

Leng Lizhi works in the professional background-character department. After completing a mission, he was told he'd left behind an item that had to be retrieved before he could take a vacation, so he went back with the recovery System.

But things weren't quite as he'd expected...

The painter and his muse

He moved into his own home, his expression wistful and his gaze full of longing. A friend of his from the past had lived here, hadn't they? There was no other explanation for that familiar, sorrowful look.

Out of habit, he reached for his own things, only to find they weren't there. His friend, who was cleaning, looked perplexed, found them, and handed them over. "How did you know this was here? Have you used it? Did you put it here? Were you living together?"

He painted the garden on the balcony in the lovely sunlight. His friend saw the brushwork and said, "It's exactly the same technique. Other people always have slight differences because of their tastes or who taught them. Did he teach you every single stroke? That's so sweet..."

The rich heir and his playmate

He punched in the password and let himself into a villa that was supposed to be empty, planning to stay there temporarily. He walked right into a party with the owner's rowdy friends and got furious. His friends thought, "When he gets mad, he's exactly like that guy. It's terrifying. They must be really close!"

He sat on the villa's sofa, brooding to himself, and met the gaze of a distant cousin who had hurried over after hearing the news, trying to clear the place out. The cousin thought, "I've never seen him look so sad. Is it because the villa's peace and quiet was disturbed? If he's this upset just over a house, how much must he have loved its owner?"

When questioned, he casually made up a story about how they met. His cousin gradually put the pieces together. "Everything matches. No wonder he came here and wouldn't leave, even staying until he died. So his heart belonged to someone?"

The vampire and the vampire hunter

He tracked his old trail with his vampire hunter's badge. The other hunters watching him thought, "I've never heard of a vampire hunter who only kills one vampire, especially one that's been dead for ages. Unless they had a deep grudge, could that vampire have seduced him and stolen his heart?"

He heard that a vampire gathering place held something of his from the past. Without hesitation, he went there, fell into a trap, and was surrounded by vampires. He unleashed the vampire's aura that had once been within his soul.

The vampires pinned to the ground looked shocked, as if they'd just heard the juiciest gossip. "He even gave you his soul's aura. He must've ripped his own heart out for you! You should've said you had a connection to such a powerful vampire. Why did we even bother fighting?"

After retrieving his things and leaving, Leng Lizhi discovered that the rumors about him had grown more and more outrageous. "...We weren't dating, really..."
