Dangerous Heart Palpitations

Ji Xue hurriedly covered Second Young Master Jin's gossiping mouth. A figure passed by them, and her little face instantly flushed.

It was Jin Wei, the newly appointed head of the Jin family, who had only recently returned from abroad. He was the youngest son, and the one Old Master Jin favored and doted on most. After so many years apart, he had become even more mature.

Jin Wei considered himself level-headed and goal-oriented, until the granddaughter of one of Old Master Jin's old comrades came to stay with the Jin family and turned all his plans upside down. He suddenly had a little chatterbox trailing after him all day.

It was only when he went abroad that he finally got some peace and quiet, but for some reason, he felt empty inside.

Years later, he returned home and saw that little girl again. He thought she would cling to him just like she had when she was young, but she had changed. He couldn't help teasing her, and when the young woman pouted, he realized something.

As time went by, the girl seemed to have grown distant from him. Did she even dislike him a little?

A little scene:

Ji Xue invited a lot of friends to her twentieth birthday party, including several members of the Jin family. Jin Wei gave her a gift she really liked, his tone polite and gentlemanly.

"Happy birthday, little one."

"Jin Wei! I'm twenty! I've been an adult for two years. I'm not a little one anymore!"

Everyone present was an influential figure in their circles. Seeing the untouchable head of the Jin family get so thoroughly put in his place by Ji Xue, they didn't know whether to hide or pretend to be deaf. While they were debating whether they should make themselves scarce, they heard the audacious Ji Xue confess to Jin Wei in front of everyone.

"Jin Wei, I've got my eye on you. Tell me! Will you be my boyfriend?"

A flicker of shock crossed Jin Wei's eyes. His voice carried a note of confusion. "Don't you like Xiao Sen?"

Xiao Sen? Jin Sen again! The Jin family's eldest young master! Where had the rumor that she liked him even come from?
