Unrequited Love Has an Ending

New story now available: Wedded Bliss

Mutual pining, unrequited love turned requited. An illustrator heroine x a university professor.

Small business owner Shen Qianhe runs into the person she's always thought of as unattainable again at a friend's brother's birthday party.

He's just as charmingly refined and elegant as he was when they first met.

She thought they would have no connection, just as they had years ago, but then...

"Miss Shen, could we be friends?"

His initiative leaves Shen Qianhe stunned. She quickly nods, joy rushing straight to her head.

After the party, Shen Qianhe tells her friend about it. Her friend asks, "After all these years, do you really still like him that much?"

Thinking of Zhou Yanli's calm, self-assured manner, Shen Qianhe smiles knowingly. "Yes. How am I supposed to win the heart of a man who's so gentle, composed, and reserved?"

Her friend says, "Work up your courage and go for it."

Shen Qianhe says miserably, "I don't dare, but I can't bear to be just friends either."

In the days that follow, she keeps running into Zhou Yanli at just the right time and place.

After enough chance meetings, the two start chatting and drinking together like old friends.

But Shen Qianhe grows more and more dissatisfied with things as they are.

One day, she takes the initiative and asks him out.

She says, "Zhou Yanli, I don't want us to be just friends."

After the words leave her mouth, she's nervous, afraid, and anxious. She can't even bring herself to look at him.

But soon, she hears his gentle voice: "Shen Qianhe, what a coincidence. I don't want us to be just friends either."
