Did Junior Sister Blow Up the Alchemy Furnace Today?

[Synopsis in first person, main story in third person]

My name is Song Yaoyao, and I'm the newest junior disciple of the Danding Sect.

On the day I joined, the Grand Elder finished refining a Bodhi Golden Pill after eighty-one days. It was the finest grade, the kind that appeared only once in a century.

The Second Elder summoned heavenly pill lightning for the first time, tempering an Earth-grade pill until it reached Heaven-grade quality.

The Third Elder united his body and pill and wrote a treatise on alchemy that would be passed down through the ages...

From then on, I became the Danding Sect's darling.

The elders all agreed that I was an alchemy prodigy favored by the heavens, destined to become a pillar of the sect.

That is, until my first alchemy class, when I blew up the furnace under the expectant gazes of every elder and fellow disciple.

Everyone said the Heavenly Dao was fair: it had opened one door for me, but closed another.

I was a lucky charm who helped others refine pills, but I couldn't make even one ordinary Foundation Establishment Pill myself.

I refused to give up, growing bolder with every failure.

Little by little, everyone in the Danding Sect got used to the sound of the furnace exploding from time to time.

Fortunately, the sect was generous and didn't mind the countless furnaces I destroyed.

As long as I stood nearby for fifteen minutes while the elders refined pills, they'd reimburse the cost of a new furnace.

Later, when my fellow disciples went out to gain experience, I tagged along as their lucky charm.

When we were unexpectedly attacked by a beast tide, I blew up another furnace.

The beast tide turned into an all-you-can-eat barbecue.

I had somehow become the Danding Sect's strongest fighter.

Whenever fellow disciples went out to train, they did everything they could to bring me along.

But I really don't want to fight.

I just want to quietly refine some pills. Why is that so hard?
