Snake Gu [Nonhuman]

On her tour guide's recommendation, Xu Qingyao visits the She ethnic group's homeland, nestled among mountains and waters. The people there wear silver ornaments and snake totems, and are exceptionally warm and hospitable.

There is just one thing Xu Qingyao cannot understand. The She are said to be skilled at making Gu and controlling snakes, yet she has not seen a single snake across the mountains.

Then, at the sacrificial bonfire ceremony, the young priest climbs onto the platform. Hissing snakes fill the air around them. As Xu Qingyao flees in panic, she crashes into a cold chest. When she looks up, she falls in love at first sight with the young priest, whose eyes are a deep shade of green.

As if it were fate, the two quickly fall in love. During a sweet moment, she asks him about the rumors. He only kisses her fingertips and smiles innocently.

"A Yao, I can't make Gu."

"And as for controlling snakes, that was just a coincidence."

She believes him, until she catches sight of the vast blood-red expanse in the young man's eyes as snakes surround him, making him look like a demon from hell.

He really isn't human.

Xu Qingyao tries to escape, but it seems she realized the truth too late. A cold sensation creeps across her waist and stomach. The young man suddenly appears and holds her tightly in his arms, his voice icy and hoarse.

"I lied to you, A Yao. I can make Gu."

"Share my lifespan, and die if you betray me."

Xu Qingyao looks down as a searing pain suddenly spreads along her arm. A strange snake totem appears on her skin.

This is the Snake Gu.
