This Cat, Boss of the Block

A similar dog story, The Little Dog's Diary, is open for pre-orders. The blurb is at the very bottom. Check it out in my author profile! Blurb: Scarface is the boss of the stray cats in this neighborhood, an orange cat with a scar at the corner of one eye. Every day, it patrols its territory, recruits new strays as underlings, beats up vicious stray dogs, and joins the other cats in laying claim to a trash can that always seems to replenish its food. One day, a human girl moved into the neighborhood. The smell of braised fish was always coming from her home. Unable to resist, and urged on by its underlings, Scarface climbed through her window one night. Unfortunately, the nimble girl caught it. As it closed its eyes and braced for human punishment, it heard a familiar voice and smelled a familiar scent. "Rourou!" she cried, her voice full of tears and joy. When it opened its eyes, it recognized the girl before it as its very first owner. After the girl took Scarface in, it had only one problem... "Boss Scarface, why does that human call you Rourou?" one curious cat asked. Under the puzzled gazes of its many feline underlings, the fat orange cat with the scarred face despairingly closed its eyes. Ugh, there goes my authority as the boss. How humiliating for a cat... The Little Dog's Diary: Su Youyou unexpectedly gained the ability to understand dogs. She opened the dirty notebook that a dog kept carrying around, and found the diary of her golden retriever, Paopao. "March 6, Sunny The human came home from hunting very late. She sat blankly on the sofa, and drops of water kept falling from her face. She smelled bitter. I went over and rubbed my wet nose against her equally wet face. The human stroked my head, and her tears pattered down, soaking the little dog's fur. I brought her the jerky I'd hidden away. See? Even without hunting, a little dog can take care of you. But humans are so strange. She didn't smell bitter anymore, but she was crying so much she could drown a little dog. It's okay, it's okay. I have plenty of time. Every day while I wait for you to come home from hunting, this little dog will find a way to make you stop crying." Theme: Healing
