The Vegetarian [Criminal Investigation]

While helping solve a serious criminal case, Li Yuya encounters her high school junior in the interrogation room. Back in high school, her junior was sweet and innocent, as harmless as a rabbit. She always stayed close behind Li Yuya and made a promise that they would protect each other in the future. Eight years later, she is still gentle and considerate, and maturely helps Li Yuya deal with all kinds of problems. Li Yuya feels sorry for her junior, who lost a loved one in this terrible case, and does everything she can to help find the culprit. As the investigation continues, the two gradually grow close again, just as they were in high school. But... one clue after another keeps pointing to Han Tuyou, the seemingly kind and innocent junior. In the interrogation room, Han Tuyou once again casually dispels every suspicion pointing toward her. Just as everyone sighs in frustration, thinking they must have arrested the wrong person, the gentle, kind junior turns to Li Yuya and gives her a meaningful smile. It seems almost like a taunt. Looking at that familiar face with its suddenly unfamiliar expression, Li Yuya is struck by the memory of something she once witnessed in high school: When Han Tuyou realized she was being watched, she stared at Li Yuya without blinking, her dark eyes icy. Back then, Han Tuyou smiled just like this. She was never an innocent lamb, and Li Yuya was never her savior. They were destined to stand on opposite sides, each trying to take the other’s bargaining chips. But... Li Yuya could steel herself, while her junior seemed perfectly willing to hand over her “blade” and become a “stepping stone” on Li Yuya’s path to achieving her dreams. Theme: Finding yourself
