Childhood Friends Team Up: We'll Take You Down Even If It Kills Us [Esports]

Back in school, Sui Yang hated Jiang Zeyan more than anyone. He was good at studying and handsome, and there wasn't a person for miles around who didn't talk about him. Everyone from three-year-olds to eighty-year-olds was a fan of Jiang Zeyan.

And Sui Yang? Everyone knew him as an unlucky delinquent, a street loafer, and an internet addict. Compared to Jiang Zeyan, they were worlds apart.

Sui Yang spat and viciously wrote in his diary: "I hate show-offs more than anything in this life, especially Jiang Zeyan, the biggest show-off of all."

2.

By the time he reached eighth grade, Sui Yang couldn't bear school anymore. He packed his bags, took the five thousand yuan he'd saved from years of Lunar New Year gifts, and ran off to try out at an esports training center in Guangzhou. Somehow, he passed.

His parents took one look at his math test with its score of five and his top-five ranking on the national server, then waved him off. Out of sight, out of mind.

In his first year there, Sui Yang was spotted by the LSR club at a youth esports tournament and signed on as a member of their second team. He swept the secondary league championships under the title of LSR's young prince. As soon as he turned sixteen, he was promoted to the main team as a starter, and later became a well-known intercontinental champion.

At eighteen, Sui Yang returned home full of swagger, eager to show off. He hadn't forgotten the "childhood friend" who had cast a shadow over his brief school days, either. But before the puppy could lift his tail in pride and happiness, he discovered a cruel truth: "His childhood friend, who could have gone to a top university, had given up his guaranteed admission and joined his team!"

Sui Yang: "??? What? Has Jiang Zeyan lost his mind? Why would he give up his studies to play esports?"

3.

As childhood friends turned teammates, they should have become LSR's strongest duo. But during matches, the two of them could never both survive to the end of a game.

In an interview, Sui Yang gritted his teeth and said, "Only one of us can survive on the battlefield!"

Jiang Zeyan: "The gaming desk is too small. Since we're left-handed, we keep bumping into each other. I can still carry if he dies. I'll take his place on the battlefield..."

Sui Yang: "! I'm not dead yet!"

Jiang Zeyan: "Oh. I'll make it out alive with his supplies, then."

4.

On the day they won the world championship, someone claimed that Jiang Zeyan and Sui Yang had fought backstage. The water cooler and gaming chairs went flying, and Jiang Zeyan even split his lip.

Sui Yang reposted the claim on Weibo with a "Are you single? .jpg" meme and replied, "Are you blind? Can't you see the hickey on his neck? What did you think it was, a mosquito bite?"

Jiang Zeyan immediately followed up: "Does fighting with our mouths not count as fighting?"

Netizens: "!!! Don't leave us hanging! Where can we see the rest?"
