A Maybach slowly pulled up to the stop.

The window lowered. Sitting upright in the back seat was none other than the husband she hadn't seen since they got their marriage certificates.

He turned his head to look at her, his features deep-set and his voice calm and unhurried. “Get in. I'll give you a ride.”

At first, Qi Shuran thought so too.

Everyone present knew that Jin Wenxi hated children most of all. No one thought the two of them would really have children or grow old together.

Qi Shuran was shy, and bit her lip amid the teasing.

Suddenly, a hand slipped over hers beneath the table. The man's callused fingertips slowly stroked the back of her hand.

Qi Shuran's heart pounded with nervousness, and a tingling sensation crept up from her tailbone.

Jin Wenxi kept caressing her hand, his expression and heartbeat unchanged, and answered leisurely, “We're working on it. Come have a drink at the baby's one-month celebration next year.”
