Cecilia Wayne, deputy commander of the Drowned Army, student and subject of Gotham's Queen Bruce, stood watch over the world alongside her for ten years after the great flood that engulfed the globe. They were the only two survivors in the world.

Beneath the sorrowful, blue-green ocean stretching to the horizon, there was no light but the Bat-Signal Bruce had lit. Today was no different. Every night was the same.

She often gazed at Bruce's profile in the water, so cold and profound, and thought, This is for the best... At least she'll never know how I feel, so she won't be put in a difficult position. Just looking at her is enough to nourish me like rain after a drought.

Cecilia waited for a long time, embarrassed, anguished, yet full of hope. She thought, I've followed her for so long. Her husband has been dead for years, and she even smiled at me once. So why can't she take me with her? Bruce, look at me. You know that if you'd just look at me once, I'd do anything for you, even destroy the world.

But her queen never looked back.

Her heart turned to ash. She fled in a panic, leaping from a high-rise, and began a long, wandering life.

She crossed the nights and walls of Crime Alley, drank with the Amazons on Themyscira, wept blood for the deaths of Red Room agents in a birch forest, shared a bed with Truth in the world of the Regime, and finally drew her blade against the Drowned's other commander at Mercy Harbor. Her mentor parted ways with her, her comrades went their separate ways, the one she loved abandoned her, and the one who loved her died for her.

Many years later, the war ended, peace came, the floodwaters receded, and flowers covered the land. By a twist of fate, Cecilia, now the chairwoman of the Justice League in the new world, finally learned what they had left unsaid, their words still smiling.

"You will take my place and see the jewels, flowers, and stars."

1. There are five pairings, in order of appearance: the Drowned Woman, Catwoman, Artemis, Black Widow, and Regime Wonder Woman. The heroine is the magic-side powerhouse: calm and reliable, but periodically unhinged, and a universal heartthrob. The main story has a bad ending, but the larger story has a happy ending. All the bonus chapters set in the new world have happy endings.

2. The only thing I can guarantee will never be a content warning in this novel is love for the country, society, and humanity. Every story is supported by a complete outline and archived research. Apart from occasionally having an unstable update schedule, and not writing enough words to get blacklisted, the author has no principled history of insulting China, hating the Party, plagiarism, copying others' work, common content warnings, or abusing reader support. If you still need more content warnings, first consider whether judging every story by your own standards makes you the origin of the universe, puts you at the center of everything, and destroys an originally vibrant creative environment.
