A Young Cousin Comes to the Duke's Estate

The granddaughter of the Old Madam of the Rongguo Duke's residence is coming to the estate to choose a husband.

The young lady is a cousin. She fell seriously ill as a child and has some hearing loss in her left ear.

The four unmarried young masters privately tried to pass the responsibility to one another, each afraid he might be chosen.

On the day the young lady came to the estate, the four of them had no choice but to meet their guest.

As soon as they entered the hall, they saw a pretty little girl with snowy skin and lovely features nestled in her grandmother's arms. In a sweet, delicate voice, she greeted them: "Hello, Cousins."

The cousins: ... Well, it's not like that wouldn't work!

Mingzhu knew she had a flaw and was convinced no one in the world would marry her sincerely.

On the day she was to choose a husband, her tipsy grandmother waved a hand grandly. "Pick anyone you like!"

To make her grandmother happy, Mingzhu casually pointed through a cloud-patterned screen at a young gentleman dressed in immaculate white.

"That's the Duke, not one of your cousins," someone suddenly shouted in warning.

Mingzhu's face flushed in an instant.

The Duke was not her biological cousin. Though he was unmarried, she absolutely could not choose him.

And so the husband-selection banquet became a little farce, which Mingzhu didn't take to heart.

After the banquet, Mingzhu, a little tipsy, ran into the Duke in the garden.

Mingzhu said timidly, "H-Hello, Second Cousin."

Beneath the leafy shade, Second Cousin handed her a jade pendant and moved his lips.

Mingzhu, who had trouble hearing, didn't know what he had said and looked flustered. "That's not right!"

The young gentleman, usually dignified and solemn in public, moved to her right side and said with certainty, "It is right."

Mingzhu: ...

A little extra scene:

Shen Lingzhou suffered from severe insomnia. Whenever the young lady who came to choose a husband drew near him, he always slept wonderfully that night.

So, if they're both her cousins, why can't she choose him?
