After I Got a Job with the Heavenly Dao

In short: modern cultivation

The protagonist works hard at cultivation for three thousand years before finally ascending. Once he gets to the celestial realm, he discovers in despair that he still has to keep working himself to the bone. That's because every job in the celestial realm requires passing an exam.

The competition for some popular positions is so intense that the protagonist, a nobody, is sure he doesn't stand a chance. Then, by chance, he discovers a position that no one is applying for: the Heavenly Dao post.

He doesn't know the first thing about it, but eagerly signs up for the exam. Since he's the only applicant, he gets the job. Only after being hired does he learn the ridiculous reason no one applied: the Heavenly Dao has to keep countless worlds running, and in many of them, it's the villainous BOSS who has to die over and over again.

The most despairing part is learning that previous unlucky candidates who were assigned to the Heavenly Dao post went straight into the Wheel of Reincarnation. They'd rather lose all their cultivation and ascend all over again than become the Heavenly Dao.

Protagonist: ...

After thinking it over, the protagonist realizes that if he has to work himself to the bone for another three thousand years, he might as well kill himself and reincarnate. So he decides to go for it.

The protagonist, the new generation's hapless Heavenly Dao, is about to come online.

P.S. The position is permanent for life. Once you take office, you can't transfer or run away, unless you die.

Blurb to be revised, and the title too.
