The gong was reborn, back on the first day he and the shou started dating.
The walls of their little house were damp, and the windows were broken. The shou showed up to move in with him, carrying a little bag and jingling from head to toe. While he puttying the walls, the shou sat on the bed munching on the snacks he'd bought. When evening came, the shou lifted his face and matter-of-factly said they should go eat out.
From ten years ago to ten years later, the shou had never pretended to be anything other than what he was. He had always been a pampered, innocent darling who couldn't handle hardship.
The gong was at his wit's end. Everyone falls for cheap, shiny things when they're young. How had he, at nineteen, failed to see that the eighteen-year-old shou wouldn't be someone who could share hardships with him in the future?
This time around, he was determined to climb higher than he had in his previous life and never let anyone take advantage of him. The gong was determined to break up with the shou.
The shou shared a piece of his snack with him after finishing the whole bag. Wait one more day.
The shou folded a napkin into a flower and gave it to him while they were eating out. Wait one more day.
The shou was so vain, changing outfits ten times a day and asking if he looked good. Wait one more day.
The shou bought cheap new clothes that smelled of machine oil. Save up to buy him a new outfit. Wait one more day.
The shou's bed was too small. Wait one more day.
The shou's house wasn't big enough.
The shou sweetly called him “daddy.”
Maybe paying in installments really did make it easy to lose sight of things. The gong never imagined he'd end up repeating history all over again, just like that.

On the first day he and the gong started dating, the shou also had a hazy dream. In it, he seemed to see a chaotic future falling apart.
The shou was lazy and loved good food, and never worried about anything. After waking up, he soon forgot the dream and didn't take that future to heart.
Years later, the gong had built a major company and bought a big house. As he held the shou he'd taken such good care of, the gong, who had always been ambitious, showed a hint of surrender and relief in his eyes for the first time.
The shou pretended not to notice and pulled the gong out shopping again.
The gong knew the shou's head was small and he couldn't remember much.
But the gong didn't know that, at the end of that dream, the shou had remembered one sentence after all.
“Believe that he loves me more than anyone in the world. Keep believing it, always.”
Theme: As long as there's love, they can have a happy ending.
