1.

A sudden downpour stranded Ye Ke on Wenshan Road. She ducked into the first shop she came across and looked up to see her ex-boyfriend, Fang Huai, whom she hadn't seen in years.

The computer genius who had once ruled the roost at Z University was now repairing keyboards in an electronics shop.

Ye Ke was confused, but luckily, he had his head down and hadn't seen her, let alone recognized her.

She lowered her head and was about to sneak out when a familiar, clear voice reached her ears. "What needs fixing?"

He looked up and met her eyes.

Ye Ke braced herself, pulled a Bluetooth earbud case from her bag, and tossed it to him. "There's some noise. Could you take a look?"

Fang Huai was silent for a few moments. He raised the brightly colored box in his hand and arched an eyebrow. "Ye Ke, it's been years. You've gotten pretty wild, huh?"

The words "remote control" on the box were impossible to miss.

It wasn't a Bluetooth earbud case at all. It was a sex toy her best friend had given her over lunch. Remote control was just one of its features, advertised as a gimmick. The tips of Ye Ke's ears burned. Meeting his gaze, she pressed on. "Can't you fix it? If you can't, give it back."

"First, explain what this box..."

"Explain what? Can't you read?" She deliberately rubbed salt in the wound right in front of him. "My boyfriend lives far away. Do I have to report that to you?"

Later, when passion took over and they were tangled together, Ye Ke tried to escape as he pinned her down, but he wouldn't let her go. At the crucial moment, he asked her over and over, "Where does your boyfriend live? Say it again."

Her shoulders trembled. "Same city. Local. Right here beside me. Less than an inch away."
