"Tian Yu Hua" is one of the representative works of ancient Chinese speaking and singing literature. Through the story of the protagonist Zuo Weiming's struggle with the powerful traitors Zheng Guotai and Wei Zhongxian, it reflects the struggle between the Donglin Party and the Eunuch Party in the late Ming Dynasty, and reproduces the famous three major historical events of the late Ming Dynasty, such as the Box Attack, Hongwan, and Palace Relocation Cases. It reveals some realities, reflects and sympathizes with the unfortunate experiences of women in feudal society.
The book narrates the internal struggles in the imperial court during the Wanli and Tianqi years of the Ming Dynasty. It focuses on the righteous bureaucrat Zuo Weiming and his daughter Zuo Yizhen. It describes the sharp and complex struggles between the Donglin Party members and the emperor's relative Zheng Guotai, the treacherous minister Fang Congzhe, and the eunuch Wei Zhongxian. It artistically reproduces the social contradictions and crises in the late Ming Dynasty with a certain degree of authenticity. The author has a strong and tragic national sentiment and denounces the treacherous ministers who are in power. The country has no peace and endless troubles. It should be the hands of the survivors of the Ming Dynasty. This work has a grand structure, twists and turns in the plot, and the language is relatively fluent. However, I have not heard of any artists playing or singing. But it has a great influence on opera creation. Peking Opera "Coiling Dragon Sword", Ping Opera "Yuhe Bridge", Yue Opera "Tianyuhua", Sichuan Opera "Three Wrong Fate", and Fujian Opera "Huang Jingying Forces Water" are all adapted from this tanci chapter.
