Guanyinqiao (Republican Era)

Playboy x Timid Sweetheart

The Guanyin at the temple fair honoring the gods made the carefree, womanizing Seventh Young Master Lu finally settle down.

Seventh Young Master Lu gazed at the beautiful young woman his father had just taken as a concubine, love impossible to hide in his eyes.

When he was being punished, sending him a parasol was the only response she could offer.

Meeting Guanyin on Guanyin Bridge was the greatest tribulation of Lu Qi's life.

When a friend came to visit, he laughed at the roomful of Guanyin paintings.

Lu Qi merely smiled. "I believe in Buddha."

His friend burst out laughing. "The way you look at Guanyin's eyes doesn't seem very devout to me."

No one noticed the marks left by earrings on the ears of the Guanyin image hanging on the wall.

She once teased him, "Why do you always like looking at Guanyin?"

Lu Qi replied solemnly, "Because I don't want to think about my future. I want to think about hairpins and skirts."

She laughed, her hair glowing softly in the cool night breeze. "Tomorrow I'll dress up as Guanyin. Will you come see me?"

Her lovely smile filled Lu Qi's eyes. He pretended to look thoroughly disgusted. "From now on, I wouldn't dare look at Guanyin."
