A Marquis's Household Wedding Chronicle

In Yujing, the capital beneath the imperial city walls, a single brick could hit five or six or even eight officials. The Changping Marquis household was somewhat down on its luck and hardly stood out.

But ever since the eldest legitimate son brought home a widow and announced he would marry her, Wen Yuhua felt the Changping Marquis household had become famous, and its atmosphere had begun to go decidedly off course.

Before her eldest sister's marriage negotiations even began, she fell for her brother's schoolmate and insisted on marrying him. The marquis's wife had no choice but to prepare a dowry and send off her own daughter in tears.

Her second sister hadn't even begun discussing marriage when she started secretly exchanging tokens of affection with someone. The marquis's wife was furious for days, then married her off too.

Her third sister was even more outrageous. She captured a handsome husband herself and kept him in a private residence. By the time the marquis's wife rushed over, she found a huge bed, and the couple fainted on the spot.

When it came to Wen Yuhua, she wasn't in the least bit worried. She slept until late morning every day, took life at a leisurely pace, and was no different from the salted fish hanging from the kitchen rafters. Even her stepmother grew anxious watching her.

“Little Seven is lazy and loves to eat. Why not find her a wealthy family?” her concubine mother urged the marquis's wife in a hurry.

The marquis's wife actually took the suggestion to heart.

After the engagement, her siblings teased her. Her future husband's family might be of lower rank, but they had money and land. Her brother-in-law was accomplished in both letters and arms and had lofty ambitions. If their lazy little Seventh Sister married into that family, she was in for a hard time.

Wen Yuhua pretended to blush and lowered her head, twisting her handkerchief. In her heart, she had her own plans.

He was handsome and rich, and she didn't dislike him. She would be the one living her life, and she wasn't afraid to follow her husband wherever he went.
