I'm Really Not a Great Sage [Western Fantasy]

[My next story will be "Kept by Monsters," a Chinese folk-horror tale. If you're interested, feel free to visit my author page and bookmark it~]

Lin Heng is an ordinary college student, an ordinary Miskatonic student.

As an outstanding folklore major at the (crossed out: hometown of investigators), he's thoroughly familiar with the occult. Whether it's tarot, astrology charts, or rituals, no one can hear him talk without offering heartfelt praise: "You're so accurate!"

When he did a friend's makeup, giving himself a look that was ethereal and brimming with mystical vibes, he transmigrated.

Not only did he transmigrate, but he couldn't get the makeup or the hair extensions off his face, either.

Lin Heng: ...Oh, great.

As he was examining the makeup seemingly welded to his face by the lake, someone whose face was three parts bewilderment and four parts misery came over.

Out of a fortune-teller's instinct, he couldn't help saying:

"You look like you could use some help."

Then he pulled out his tarot cards.

"Want a reading?"

The King of Daroa would never forget meeting the Sage when he was exiled from his kingdom. The Sage, who seemed almost divine, saw his confusion and used a prophecy to show him the way forward.

From then on, the king found a new faith and willingly bowed to his sovereign.

The chief mage, who had shut himself away in the wizard tower for years, opened the door he had kept closed for a century.

The capricious Demon King proclaimed to the world: If the Great Sage wishes it, the entire demon realm will worship him as a god.

Lin Heng: But I only read your fortunes?

- The male lead really can tell fortunes.

- There is no fortune-telling or mind magic in the other world.

- He's an investigator, so there's nothing wrong with knowing a few spells and summoning rituals, right?

- No CP, an unconventional deification story.

[Important] If you're unhappy with the story, think my writing is bad, or dislike the protagonist's personality, you can just drop it. There's no need to tell the author. I'm sensitive, and if you upset me, I'll delete your comment and cry for you to see.

[Coming Soon 1] "The Manga Villain Is a Lucky Charm." Yes, I'm writing another manga story... This time the protagonist is a tsundere!

[Coming Soon 2 Synopsis] "Becoming an Evil God Starts with Fishing"

Lin Shuyu, an ordinary twenty-six-year-old corporate drone, did something thrilling last week, the kind of extreme sport adults do: he quit his job without notice, after using up three months of saved vacation days.

He, a corporate drone, finally stood tall!

Then he sat back down, because he'd received a notice that he had terminal cancer.

After learning he didn't have long to live, Lin Shuyu decided to enjoy the wonders of nature. In other words, he was going to slack off.

Happily carrying his fishing rod to a scenic spot he'd just found, he started fishing and caught a skull.

A ghost floated lazily out of the skull. "Hi?"

Lin Shuyu: "...Hi?"

After discovering that he could see ghosts, he took the ghost he'd just caught along to find his two childhood friends.

Childhood friend, real Taoist: "Oh, and then what?"

Childhood friend, real witch: "You can finally see ghosts! That's great. Now we don't have to pretend anymore!"

Lin Shuyu slowly formed a question mark.

So was I really the only one who thought you two were just suffering from a severe case of chuunibyou?

His two childhood friends had always thought Lin Shuyu was frail, lazy, and a ghost magnet. Wanting to make the last stretch of his life as happy and comfortable as possible, they were always careful when bringing him along to strange, supernatural events, afraid he'd pass away before the cancer got him.

Until one day, Lin Shuyu was grabbed by a monster. Just as the two of them prepared to fight to the death, Lin Shuyu... burst into a pile of bubbles, and the monster they could never defeat shrieked as it rotted into a puddle of slime.

Lin Shuyu: Oops, I lost control.

* The protagonist really is an avid fisherman. He won't go home until he catches a fish.

* Contains a massive amount of Cthulhu-esque elements.

* A fisherman can catch anything but fish.

A terminally ill corporate drone who gives up x a ghost who's already a snark machine.

There are lots of supernatural elements, but the author's style is so goofy you might not find it scary (.

Theme: Face your fate bravely
