The Beautiful Director Is a Stray Cat

On her very first day at work, Xiao Xialiu was chewed out by her department director and docked half a month's pay.

The director, Duan Mian, was a beautiful woman with long, straight black hair, a graceful figure, and an elegant air. Even her frown was lovely.

Too bad she had such a terrible temper.

Downcast, Xiao Xialiu went home. That night, she found an abandoned little British Shorthair kitten.

No matter how much Xiao Xialiu cuddled and fussed over her, the kitten never showed her teeth. She only let out soft little "mew" sounds, gazing up with crystal-clear eyes. She was absolutely adorable.

Xiao Xialiu's heart melted.

There was nothing for it. She had to grit her teeth and keep letting her devil of a boss exploit her, so she could earn enough to buy the kitten some canned food.

But she began to notice that her boss was acting stranger and stranger.

In the break room, Duan Mian suddenly leaned close and took a sip from the rim of the cup Xiao Xialiu had just filled.

At lunchtime, while Xiao Xialiu was typing at her desk, Duan Mian rolled her chair over, closed her eyes, and rested her head beside Xiao Xialiu's arm for a nap.

Before the end of the workday, Duan Mian watched her order freeze-dried treats and canned food online, then gave a soft swallow.

Xiao Xialiu's heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly closed the orange shopping app, afraid she'd get her pay docked for slacking off, then swiped out and fled as if escaping for her life.

But a few months later, the British Shorthair at home suddenly went into heat.

Xiao Xialiu was so frantic she rushed home from work early, not caring about the pay cut. All she wanted was to take the kitten to the veterinary hospital to get spayed.

But when she got home, she found a familiar figure in the bathtub.

"...Mew."

Duan Mian's cheeks were flushed. She clutched the edge of the tub and gazed at Xiao Xialiu through half-lidded eyes, a pink hue spreading across her fair shoulders.

"I don't want to go to the hospital..." The beauty suddenly burst into tears, her voice soft and sweet. "Mew... I don't want to go..."

Xiao Xialiu: Huh?
