Kissing in the Ruins

The day after the emergency rescue, at a temporary hospital.

Xu Jiaqi had just finished an emergency surgery, and injured people were still arriving one after another.

On her way to the temporary restroom, she saw Bian Cheng, filthy from head to toe.

He was still searching for the injured, snatching lives back from the Grim Reaper.

No one dared waste a second during the golden 72 hours.

The ring on her ring finger glinted.

It was their third year of marriage. Before the wedding, she and Bian Cheng had met a few times, then married after being introduced by others. Her impression of him came from what other people said.

After they married, they spent little time together. Even when they had a few days off, they were always shuttling between their two families.

They had always been close yet distant, more like comrades sharing a duty than husband and wife.

Now, in an unremarkable little town, they stood side by side and fought together.
