The Chen family had two sons. The younger, Chen Xuesong, was ill-tempered and constantly mocked and picked on Li Siyang. The elder, Chen Zai’an, was quiet and taciturn. When he came home on the rare occasions he did, he stayed in his room playing video games, and he and Li Siyang only spent a brief time together. - A few years later, the Chen family sent Li Siyang abroad to study. At a snow-covered train station, he lost his wallet and had no choice but to ask Chen Zai’an for help. He was studying there too. In the subzero cold, Li Siyang waited nervously outside. It wasn’t long before Chen Zai’an came through the snow with a plain black backpack and an umbrella. “How did you lose your wallet?” Chen Zai’an lowered his eyes and held the umbrella over Li Siyang’s head. His gaze was utterly cold. “I don’t know...” Li Siyang was so cold he could barely feel anything, and his voice trembled. Chen Zai’an glanced at his red face and said, “Let’s go.” Compared to Li Siyang, who was freezing all over, Chen Zai’an seemed to radiate warmth. Li Siyang quietly hooked two fingers around the hem of Chen Zai’an’s clothes and couldn’t help edging closer. They had walked a few steps when Chen Zai’an said, “Let go.” “Can I keep holding on? I’m really cold...” “Then why wait outside?” “I wanted to see you sooner.” Chen Zai’an was silent for a moment, then described Li Siyang as a penguin clinging to him and seriously slowing down his pace. Though he said that, he didn’t forcibly remove Li Siyang’s hand. Li Siyang thought he might not be angry anymore, so he got a little bolder and asked, “Do you have somewhere urgent to be? Is that why you’re walking so fast?” “Elden Ring just came out. I’m going home to play.” - Top: Cool and calculating, gaming addict, lonely kid deep down, video game developer Bottom: Healing sweetheart, optimistic and brave, a gifted sculpture student Both brothers like Li Siyang. -The blurb for my next novel, A Thousand Moments, is below- In his previous life, Li Bufan was an extreme sports enthusiast. After a paragliding accident, he lost all his memories from his past life and was reborn. - Years later, Li Bufan accepted a friend’s invitation to put together a photography exhibition and travel to Yunnan to take landscape shots. The forest was damp, and the weather unpredictable. One night, Li Bufan was caught in a downpour and returned to the guesthouse in a miserable state with his friend. The owner apologized and said their room had sprung a leak and was being repaired, so Li Bufan had to wait on a sofa in the lobby. After a long, tiring day, he drifted off to sleep. When he woke, a thick outdoor jacket had been draped over him. A tall figure stood in the lobby. His friend quietly said this was the oddball he’d mentioned, Ji Yinan, a botanist who studied trees every day. The man turned around. Beneath the hood of his black raincoat, a pair of deep black eyes lingered on Li Bufan for a moment. Li Bufan felt a little puzzled, because the man seemed inexplicably familiar. But then he thought about it. This was a strange forest thousands of kilometers from home. There was no way he’d run into someone he knew. The owner came over and said their room was ready. “The jacket you’re wearing is one of our spares. Please return it to us.” Li Bufan thanked him and took off the jacket. A few days later, he saw Ji Yinan wearing it. Ji Yinan also told him, “Actually, I’m your ex... boyfriend, the one who should still be mad at you.” He never imagined that one day Ji Yinan would grab him by the collar, eyes red, and shout, “Li Bufan, you don’t understand! You want mountains and seas, wind and trees. You want so much.” “What about me? I just want you to be alive! Is that too much to ask?” - Road-trip story, childhood friends, in this life, the next, and the one after that, they’ll only ever have each other Top: In his previous life, he was just a bookworm.
