Rainstorm

A typhoon forced Ning Ye to stay at the Pei family home.

Unable to sleep in the early hours, he got up to pour himself some water and happened to run into Pei Xu coming home.

Outside the window, the wind howled and rain poured down. Behind him, familiar warmth pressed close.

Ning Ye realized what was happening and tried to get away, but Pei Xu held him in place.

The damp chill Pei Xu had brought in from outside clung to Ning Ye's rigid back. His fingers gripped Ning Ye's chin and forcefully turned his face toward him.

Their eyes met, and Pei Xu's voice was cold and unfamiliar. "Who was it that said they'd never come back?"

Four years ago, that summer after the college entrance exams.

In this very place, Ning Ye had dodged Pei Xu's kiss and asked to break up.

Advance Preview: Breathing Decides

A sudden rainstorm.

Lin Songnian ran through the rain to the nearest bus stop, where he unexpectedly found Liang Shu standing under an umbrella.

After exchanging a glance, they stood apart like strangers. Neither of them greeted the other.

The rain was heavy, and the bus came slowly through the downpour.

Lin Songnian was about to get on when, just before they parted, he heard Liang Shu's low, cool voice: "Your mom wants you home for dinner tomorrow night."

Today was the 208th day since they broke up.

Lin Songnian thought that worse than breaking up was having to go home with his ex after the breakup and eat at the same table together.
