Lin Miao has a superpower: ever since he was little, he has been able to understand cats.

It isn't a particularly powerful ability, but Lin Miao loves it.

He'd rather squat on the ground and meow at cats than talk to people.

Thanks to this superpower, Lin Miao knows cats inside and out. At college, he joins a stray cat rescue group.

He also learns all sorts of things about cats.

For example:

Most cats can't understand human speech. They only recognize words like "food" and "treats."

And in many cases, cats understand perfectly well, but can't be bothered to pay attention to their owners.

Most cats have simple thoughts, and their meows don't mean much.

Translated, they're saying things like "The weather is nice" or "I'm still hungry."

One day, he meets an especially chatty, greasy orange cat.

The orange cat's first words are, "Meowww!" Honey! Come pet me!

After spending some time together, Lin Miao becomes increasingly convinced that Lan Shen acts strangely around him, too.

He quietly starts keeping his distance.

That night, the chubby orange cat shows up again, grumbling and cursing.

Chubby Orange: "Meow meow meow!" Honey, you were so cold to me today, sob!
