I Went Broke After Forcing the Male Lead to Be Mine

One day, Su Mu transmigrates and becomes the spoiled, brainless cannon-fodder female character in a book.

As soon as she opens her eyes, she's in the wedding chamber on the night the male lead forcibly married her.

In the book, the spoiled female character uses her father's position as prime minister to recklessly court disaster. She forces the male lead to marry into her family, and later, when he rises to the highest ranks of government, he sends her to her death with a cup of poisoned wine. Her father is beheaded and put on public display.

But before her life is even threatened, the prime minister's residence goes bankrupt because of this marriage.

The male lead, Shen Rongjin, lies drugged on the wedding bed. There isn't a trace of tenderness in his eyes as he stares coldly at her.

Su Mu cautiously reaches out. Under his frosty gaze, she takes off his wedding robe with the resolve of someone facing death.

"S-sorry... but your wedding robe is rented... The rental period is almost up."

The male lead is so furious that he spits up blood and passes out.

In the book, after Shen Rongjin is forced to marry into the family, the female character gives him ten thousand taels of silver, ensuring his official career goes smoothly.

After transmigrating into the book, Su Mu looks at the household's deficit-ridden accounts, falls silent for a moment, and cuts that part of the plot short. She hands him a hundred taels of silver and tells him to cover the household's expenses for a year.

The plot can happen, and love can blossom, but there really is no money.

So when the female character is supposed to brandish several banknotes and try to placate the heroine with money, Su Mu miserly fishes out two copper coins with a pained expression and hands them over.

"Two coins. Leave him."

Shen Rongjin had originally married into the prime minister's family because he thought the prime minister's daughter was foolish, and her father might prove useful to him. He planned to use her to advance his official career.

Instead, she turned out to be poor and stingy. Getting anything from her was harder than reaching the heavens.

But later, when someone asks why he still hasn't divorced her,

he works the abacus with one hand, cutting expenses down to fifty taels, and holds a calligraphy brush in the other as he replies without expression, "She's too poor. She can't survive without me."
