Bodhisattva Barbarian

In the fourth year of the Gengqing era, the six prefectures of Jiujiang fell one after another, and the blades beyond the frontier were poised to strike at the capital of the Great Dynasty.

To secure peace, the Great Dynasty sent countless treasures, livestock, and provisions, along with a young prince.

The little prince was so unimportant that he was known only as Xiao Seventeen. Only then did he receive an official name: Xiao Zhige.

Ten years later

Xiao Seventeen, whom no one had ever believed in, became the new emperor of the Great Dynasty.

The first thing he did after ascending the throne was issue sixteen edicts in succession, vowing to have the regent executed in the imperial capital.

The yellow sands beyond the frontier were a nightmare Xiao Seventeen could never escape. They were dry and fine, and when they got into his mouth and mixed with saliva, they became clumps that could suffocate him.

At first, all he wanted was to escape, at any cost, even if it meant making a pact with the devil.

But the yellow sands couldn't bind his hands and feet, nor could they blind him. His people were right before his eyes, allowing him to see the suffering in the world.

He hated that the sands couldn't block his vision. He hated that someone carrying the scent of yellow sand had crossed the frontier and ensnared his body and soul.

(Nothing in this world can hold me back. I will leave the boundless yellow sands beyond the frontier. I'll stake everything on one decisive battle.)
