The Cook's Coroner Husband

Su Ling suffered through ten years of illness before finally finding release. After dying, she had no desire to be human again, but when she opened her eyes, she had become a young girl in Yuzhou City whose parents were both dead.

Su Ling stared blankly at the drafty windows, the mottled front door, and the little tykes crying and fussing at the gate.

To survive, Su Ling had no choice but to return to her old trade: setting up a stall and hawking food.

Ling Yi was a coroner at the Yuzhou City yamen. He was tall and taciturn, and spent his days dealing with corpses, so the young women in town gave him a wide berth. He had yet to find a wife.

The clerk at the yamen couldn’t bear to watch him remain alone, so he introduced him to the young woman selling food outside the yamen. She was not only beautiful, but also a superb cook. Since they were both skilled artisans, they would surely have plenty to talk about.

Ling Yi watched the young woman’s practiced hand slaughtering a chicken and draining its blood, then glanced at his own hand, which was used to opening up corpses. They really were both skilled artisans.

P.S. This is a historical fantasy. The heroine earns money to support her family, and the story is about everyday family life.
