The Male Lead’s Story: In the twenty-second year of Kangxi’s reign, the Ninth Prince, Yinzhen, fell gravely ill and was close to death. After recovering, he often dreamed strange and fantastic dreams. In them was a woman with a proud, unyielding bearing, the arrogance between her brows almost enough to pierce his heart. Whenever he was about to make an important decision, the woman in his dreams always had something to say.
Before his first stirrings of love, the Ninth Prince thought: I am the mighty Ninth Prince. How could I let a woman sway me? Not even a goddess from my dreams could do that.
As he grew older, he realized he had fallen for the goddess and longed for her day and night. He could not have her, so he pined for her day and night.
Once he’d fallen in love, the Ninth Prince thought: If what a woman says makes sense, so what if she’s a woman? I listened to my mother when I was young, and now I listen to my wife. I, Yinzhen, the mighty Ninth Prince, know how to do what’s right!
The Female Lead’s Story: While visiting the Forbidden City, Song Ziling inexplicably transmigrates into the Kangxi Emperor’s imperial garden. Mistaken for an assassin, she nearly gets killed!
Song Ziling: !!! What did I do to deserve transmigrating into an era where you can kneel until your knees break?
You think I’m going to have a lovely romance with one of the Numbered Princes?
Song Ziling: No way. Absolutely not! I’m a proud successor to socialism. How could I fall in love with an old relic in a dynasty where men can legally have multiple wives and women have such low status?
Later...
Song Ziling: If he can marry into my family and follow my surname, I might consider it!
Reading Guide: 1. The male lead is reborn, and the female lead transmigrates. The story is told from the male lead’s perspective at first, and may switch to the female lead’s perspective later.
2. Yinzhen has a character development arc. His brotherly affection for Yinsi remains unchanged, but he won’t help him fight for the throne.
3. In his previous life, Yinzhen loved her but could not have her. His obsession carries over when he is reborn, so he falls for her first.
4. The female lead is a genius of national treasure caliber, with an unyielding bearing and an exceptionally strong sense of principle. In her first life, she was tortured for it, leaving both legs disabled.
5. The male lead’s memories of his past life include intermittent scenes of painful love for both leads. The author is lazy and won’t label these scenes in the chapters. The female lead transmigrates in her own body and is older than the male lead. The characters aren’t meant to withstand close scrutiny. Read it for fun.
