When Gin Finds a Ranpo Doll

One day, the undercover Gin found a doll the size of his palm on his person.

It was made of soft silicone, and both up close and to the touch, its skin was indistinguishable from a real person's.

Just as he decided it was a prank and was about to throw it away, the doll's tiny, bean-like eyes welled with tears. It wrapped its little arms around his finger and said in a sweet, delicate voice, "N-no, don't throw me away! If a stray dog or cat carries me off, I'll die horribly. Sob, sob."

The doll's name was Ranpo.

He kept Ranpo and closely watched everything he did.

Ranpo liked sweets, and every time he ate a piece of candy, he got it all over himself.

Ranpo liked potato chips. One-tenth of a chip was enough to make his belly bulge.

Ranpo didn't like milk, and nearly drowned after falling into a milk bottle.

Ranpo liked soda. He'd burp as he hummed his favorite song.

As he took care of Ranpo, Ranpo repaid him, too.

Before Gin pulled the trigger, Ranpo would tell him which member of the organization was a genuine liquor and which was an undercover agent who only seemed to be from another organization.

He always had convincing evidence, and Gin ended up letting plenty of people go.

Until he became one of the organization's three top leaders.

One day, outside an unassuming detective agency, he ran into a delicate young man with rosy lips, a small frame, and an oversized detective's outfit.

The young man's face was exactly the same as that of the palm-sized silicone doll he kept against his chest, right down to the beauty mark by the corner of his eye.

The doll lay quietly in his palm, staring at him eerily. Its tiny, jade-green eyes were full of fear.

He went up and grabbed the young man's arm.

The other man hurriedly protested. "Great Detective Ranpo isn't a doll!" "I don't know anything!" "Let go of me!"

"I'm calling the police!"

Gin: "Go ahead. I am the police."

1. Lots of original setting. Here you'll find: undercover Red Gin, private detective Ranpo, and Black Organization Boss Ranpo.

2. The Ranpo doll and Ranpo share consciousness.

3. Romance-focused, with a chaotic timeline, so don't think too hard about it. Just enjoy the ship.

4. The author has no sense of logic. Fanfiction inevitably involves out-of-character moments, so please go easy on me.

5. Big cat takes care of little cat.

6. The detective agency isn't the Armed Detective Agency. (The director does not appear.)

Theme: I bet your gun isn't loaded.
