Painting a Dragon

Xie Yin sacrificed himself to save the dragon vein of Huaguo and died. When he woke again, he discovered that he had become a dragon, and not just any dragon, but one painted on paper.

The person before him wore a prince's robe. He raised one hand slightly, the brush in his grasp still wet with ink, and stared at Xie Yin in astonishment.

The dragon and the man stared at each other, then promptly turned hostile.

"Demon dragon, prepare to die!"

"Trying to control the dragon vein through me? You're asking for death!"

After transmigrating, Xie Yin returned from the dead and was amazed to discover that he had become a strange... dragon.

Wherever a dragon is, that is where his body is.

Carved dragons, paper dragons, embroidered dragons, cloth dragon toys, even the dragons on imperial robes: with a single thought, he could travel between them at will.

Every day, he listened to the court session from a dragon carving in the Golden Dragon Hall, where the ministers argued like they were at a marketplace.

Sometimes he went to listen in on the conspiracies of a rebellious minister at his home, from the dragon on the man's imperial robe.

Sometimes he went to a festival dragon dance to deal with a surprise attack by the demons.

And then there was that great demon who had finally managed to summon a tornado as his ultimate move against Xie Yin... Oh, come on. Put that away. Why not throw in a waterspout and a fire whirlwind too?

The golden dragon soared through the sky, sweeping its tail and riding the clouds and mist, mighty and majestic. It was just a shame he didn't have a proper body. It was enough to make a dragon fret.

Legend has it that a true dragon sleeps beneath the imperial palace.

The dragon's soul had dispersed, but its body was still alive, sustaining the Tianyan Dynasty with its dragon qi and protecting the realm. But with the spiritual qi revival and the demons' invasion, the people of the land were plunged into misery, unable to make a living. Every day, they lived in fear of the demons massacring their cities.

Until one day, the golden dragon burst from the earth, its soul returned to its body, and it faced the demons with the fortune of an entire dynasty behind it.
