The Taoist and the Demon

My dad is a merfolk, a monster.

My father is a Taoist priest who slays monsters.

Dad had liked Father for a long time. While Father was weak, Dad slept with him and ran off. Later, I ended up in Dad's belly.

Dad said, "He's ruthless. Whatever you do, don't let him find out we exist. He'll wipe us out completely."

I always thought that was a lie, but one day Dad disappeared.

Father came to our door with his sword in hand.

He was holding a blood-soaked scale.
