My Brother's Name Is DIO

[Coming next: The Phantom of the Opera: Blood Moon]

I was born in the slums of London’s East End. My father was a drunk, and my mother was the only one who kept us fed.

That peaceful life came to an end when my mother died.

Thankfully, I still had an older brother who looked after me for our mother’s sake.

We depended on each other. Life was hard, but that didn’t stop us from dreaming of a bright future.

On my seventh birthday, he confidently promised me that one day soon, I would wear the most splendid dresses, taste the finest food, and live better than any noblewoman

But before that dream could come true, my father sold me for drinking money the very next day.

Years later, I was locked in a cage at an auction house, a commodity waiting to be sold to the highest bidder.

My brother had become a nobleman’s adopted son, sitting in the audience with impeccable manners.

The moment our eyes met, he sneered and crushed the wineglass in his hand.

Coming next: The Phantom of the Opera: Blood Moon

I was born in a small town near Rouen, Paris. My parents were always busy making ends meet, so it was practically my older brother who raised me.

He was quiet and strange-looking, but he would still venture outside for my sake, enduring the other children’s mockery.

The little ones would shout that he was a monster. I covered his ears and never asked to go outside again.

When I was a little older, I started doing odd jobs with Mother at the textile mill.

After saving a few francs, I eagerly bought him a new mask and promised, “One day, I’ll cure your face.”

But before I could keep that promise, I died the next day in a monster’s lair.

When I woke again, ten years had passed.

Blindfolded, I was being led along the path to a sacrifice.

The moment the blindfold came off, candlelight flickered

A man sat on a raised platform, wearing a mask identical to the one I had given my brother.
