Gin: The Youth Edition [Detective Conan]

A transfer student arrived in Class 2-B at Teitan High School.

They say he has an impressive build.

They say he has dark green eyes.

They say he has long silver hair...

Lately, Conan kept hearing about this transfer student from that gossip, Ran, and Sonoko. Piecing together the scattered details, he formed an image of a conceited, silver-haired high school brat, the King of Jealousy in East Asia grumbled to himself.

Then one day, Conan finally met the transfer student named "Nakadai."

What?

No way!

He, he was actually "Gin"...?!

Conan's pupils contracted to pinpoints.

They say Ayumi's neighbor has a gentle silver-haired big brother who planted the most beautiful cherry tree in his yard!

They say Mitsuhiko met a silver-haired big brother who's amazing at kendo. The way he swings his sword is even cooler than Kamen Rider!

They say Genta met a silver-haired big brother while he was stuffed at an eel restaurant. The guy shared some digestive tablets with him. What a great person...

Haibara was dragged by the children to meet this silver-haired, gentle, wonderful big brother.

She looked up...

How could this be?!

How could my Organization radar fail me?

He was clearly... "Gin"!

On this day, Vermouth, Toru Amuro, Shuichi Akai, and Jodie saw...

H-he-he-he-he-he was actually "Gin"?!

H-he-he-he-he-he, how could he be "Gin"?!

At long last, Gin finally met the high school brat named "Nakadai"...

They had identical faces. Who exactly are you?

"Huh? Who's 'Nakadai'?"

Nakadai had somehow ended up in this world.

He had been a third-year high school student from Beika City in 1999, and was hailed as "the Miyamoto Musashi of the Heisei era," a kendo prodigy.

It was the same Beika City, and everything was so familiar, yet different.

In this world, there was no Michiko, no Sakura Sanjuro, and none of the familiar things...

But...

But I had changed my ways.

I had become acquainted with Sakura Sanjuro, who was both my master and my true friend.

And... I was about to say the words I'd always wanted to say to Michiko: "Please get to know me again. I'm no longer the Nakadai corrupted by greed and ambition. I can become the 'Miyamoto Musashi of the Heisei era!'"

Why was I chosen to come to this world, so similar and yet so different?

P.S. Nakadai was one of the inspirations for Gin's original design. In fact, Gin's appearance largely inherited Nakadai's look, though his appearance in the Black Organization is somewhat different. Nakadai looks like a high school student. Nakadai was a character in one of Gosho's earlier short manga, where he appeared as a "bad guy."

However, this story reimagines the original short story, "The Kendo Master: A New Beginning" (Play it again), giving Nakadai more interactions and stories with Michiko and Sakura Sanjuro. Against this backdrop, Nakadai wanders into the parallel-world Beika City, where he meets Conan, Ran, Sonoko, the Detective Boys, the Black Organization, and many other characters.

I recommend this story by Gosho to everyone who hasn't read it yet. Of course, it's fine if you haven't read it. The story will carefully unfold the tangled "past lives" or "parallel worlds" as it goes.
