Dewy Starry Night

In 2013, nineteen-year-old Pei Yutian got into a university in the city.

On her way from her island home to the bustling city, she nearly got lost. Then Pei Shuye, the son of the uncle who used to live next door, came to pick her up.

Pei Shuye was exactly her type, and they were childhood friends. Their universities were also close to each other.

When Pei Shuye took her to register, he did everything for her, but barely spoke to her.

Still, he silently helped Pei Yutian with everything: completing her enrollment, getting a water card, finding her dorm, and carrying her luggage.

Just when she thought that after all these years apart, Pei Shuye didn't like her anymore, she had a conflict with her roommates and asked her counselor for permission to move out.

During the days she spent looking for a place, she fell ill and accidentally dialed Pei Shuye's number.

Pei Shuye found her and took her to the hospital.

When he learned that Pei Yutian was looking for a place to live, he said he didn't mind sharing with her and that they could split the rent equally.

Of course, they would only be sharing a roof: a two-bedroom apartment with one kitchen, two bathrooms, and a living room. They would keep out of each other's way.

Pei Yutian agreed.

She thought she would go on living with him like this forever, until she realized she had fallen for Pei Shuye.

Seeing how busy Pei Shuye was every day and how he never made time to talk with her, she said coldly, "Why can't you be a little more considerate of me?"

Drunk, she burrowed into Pei Shuye's arms. "You like me, don't you? Isn't that only natural?"

On her birthday, she stared straight at Pei Shuye. "If we're so close from living under the same roof, why don't you love me?"

Pei Shuye thought Pei Yutian was completely different from the girl she'd been as a child.

When he went to pick her up, he saw her smile at him, innocent yet alluring.

He wondered how someone who'd been so ugly as a child could grow up to be so beautiful.

That was before they got together.

For a while, he was constantly busy with a startup project, while Pei Yutian kept asking him every day, "Am I not pretty enough? Why won't you look at me?"

Pei Shuye thought, She's beautiful. He'd watched her for years and loved her for years, until at last she finally noticed him.
