Don't Mess with the Hummingbird

[New story: Her Omega Bodyguard Keeps Flirting with Me [Reborn · Male Alpha, Female Omega] is now updating. Visit the author's page to read!]

*Hummingbirds: The smallest birds, with very fast wingbeats, excellent flying skills, and powerful memories. Because their daily activities use so much energy, they have a fast metabolism, a large appetite, and tire easily.

A new Omega consultant joins the Star City branch of the Red Flame Action Team. At first glance, she's a dazzling rich beauty, and her classification is... a hummingbird.

The whole team is puzzled. Even if she's a bird, shouldn't someone who can join Red Flame at least be a bird of prey? What can this delicate young lady do?

---Until they see this Omega's astonishing combat skills and unbeatable ability to gather evidence.

Everyone: We are thoroughly impressed!

Strangely, Captain Yan Song, who is always aloof and indifferent, seems to treat this Omega very differently.

The whole Red Flame team thinks their eyes must be deceiving them. Since when has Captain Yan ever put a coat on someone or cooked soup for them?

Since when has he warmed someone's hands or taken a bullet for them?

Captain Yan, if you've been possessed, just blink twice.

Captain Yan: Don't ask. We used to be married.

Don't ask. I messed up and lost my wife, who was this big.

Zhu Ran's life's ambition is simply to be an unremarkable rich beauty, living off her trust fund and being a carefree couch potato.

Who knew that her excessive talent and ability wouldn't let her lie flat? This couch potato ends up joining the Red Flame Action Team, notorious in police circles for working themselves to death.

Zhu Ran: Thanks for asking. I'm at Red Flame and I really want to die.

Luckily, Zhu Ran is still a couch potato with some fighting spirit. She rises to the occasion when a mission calls, then promptly lies flat as soon as it's over.

So Red Flame's members often find their hummingbird colleague, who was just unbelievably cool a moment ago, stuffing her face one minute and fast asleep the next.

Colleagues: Weren't we supposed to work ourselves to death?! Captain, aren't you going to do something about her?

Captain Yan, beaming with affection: Do what? She's adorable!

Colleagues: ...

This is a story about Captain Yan, who feels great after breaking off the engagement, then can't resist getting back together with his ex.

A talented and capable, slightly scatterbrained rich beauty who likes to lie flat + a cool, slightly arrogant captain with skill and brains
