A Jellyfish Boyfriend's Development Journal [Western Fantasy]

[Story complete. A new book is now available in the author's collection.] After reincarnating into another world, Doris still couldn't escape the fate of struggling to graduate. But she stumbled at the very first stop on her graduation project. Watching the sea beast she was about to contract get swallowed whole by a jellyfish that fought dirty, Doris closed her eyes and did her best to stay calm. Doris: “What kind of jellyfish did you say you were?” Alfrein gulped down his fresh midnight snack. “A mist-blue jellyfish~” Doris: “...I've never heard of one.” But that wasn't important. What mattered was that this jellyfish ended up as her little sidekick. He wasn't very knowledgeable, was often a bit spacey, and had a brain capacity of less than five. He couldn't even get rained on. But as a generous witch, Doris would of course forgive him for these insignificant little flaws! Most importantly, his original form was so comfortable to sleep on! Now, don't get the wrong idea. By “comfortable to sleep on,” I mean Al's true form was basically a natural waterbed. After sleeping on it once, Doris could never sleep in an ordinary sleeping bag again! An absolute must-have for an adventure! * Alfrein was a jellyfish. Like an ordinary jellyfish, he had no brain, no bones, and no internal organs whatsoever, including a heart. He vaguely sensed that Doris didn't like his plain, unchanging body. He thought hard about it and came up with nothing, until one day he realized he could take organs from other creatures. So the next time they embraced, he recreated the warmth of a human body. His limbs gained a supportive skeleton, and the fresh heart in his chest beat, proclaiming his vitality. “Will you think I'm stupid? What creature's brain would you like me to have?” “The way you are now is great. If you get smarter, that would make things difficult for me.” “O-O” Later, he watched Doris fret about her upcoming graduation day as she held an empty familiar contract. Without a moment's hesitation, he pressed his bloodied handprint onto it. “Let me be your one and only familiar.” “That way, I'll belong to you forever.” *Blurb revised on October 14, 2022 *This is a romance-focused story, and the male lead has a lot of scenes. Romance makes up a large part of the book. After the leads get together, there will be lots of affectionate cuddling and closeness. BG romance. *The male lead has no brain, so don't expect too much from his intelligence, but he isn't a naive fool (important). *The female lead isn't smart or kind, either. Readers with high moral standards for the leads should steer clear. *The male lead cries. Readers who dislike that, beware! *One-on-one, first love for both, no love rivals and no one-sided crushes on anyone else. *An everyday-life story with a slow pace, slow pace, slow pace (repeating it three times because it's important). Not traditional Western fantasy. The worldbuilding is entirely made up, so don't scrutinize it. *No academy arc. Just a simple romance, with no grand ambitions. -- Ongoing: The Crush's Thousand-Layered Schemes Xia Zhaoying thought one of the milk tea guys at the nearby dessert shop was kind of clumsy. He looked like a new hire, and he was so awkward making milk tea that he'd added the wrong toppings to her drink several times. But-- “I'm so sorry! I'll make you a new one!” “Can I comp this one? Please don't complain about me!” “Next time you come in, I promise I won't get your order wrong again!” How many times have you said that now? Still, he was so sincere and generous that it was hard to say no. With her mouth full of free treats, Xia Zhaoying looked into his bright, shining eyes and accepted the milk tea anyway, shamelessly. . A few days later The milk tea guy quietly set down his latest failed attempt. He and Xia Zhaoying, who looked like she wanted to say something but couldn't, stared at each other. “I...” “You...” He paused, then suddenly laughed. His fine bangs brushed across his handsome brows and eyes, and the eyes visible above his mask curved into slender crescent moons. His laughter sounded muffled through the mask, but it was lovely. Xia Zhaoying felt her ears getting hot. He remade her milk tea with practiced ease. “The cream puffs and pudding at our shop are really popular. Want to take some home and try them?” Xia Zhaoying was tempted, but declined. “Never mind... I don't have much spending money.” He nodded in understanding, but a few minutes later, handed Xia Zhaoying a light, cute takeout bag. “Your milk tea... and some freshly baked cream puffs, pudding, and egg tarts. They're on me. If you like them, remember to come back and support our shop next time ^^” Xia Zhaoying: “?!!” Can you really make any money working like this?! *One-on-one, first love for both, BG, BG, BG. An energetic heroine with lots of inner monologue * a gentle, boy-next-door hero (?). They're the same age and have both just finished the college entrance exam, soon to start university. *Two childish little idiots falling in love (important). A simple, sweet, everyday-life story, mindless fluff with no deeper meaning or grand ambitions. Theme: The simple things in life are what matter
