Mad Devotees in Chaos: Son of the Black Goat
Tales from the chaos of Suribachi Street, supporting each other.
Happy ending, family-focused (but you can ship them, you can ship anything JPG)
I'm working on the blurb, so here's a short piece for now.
The setting follows the White Qilin AU.
I
Nakahara Chuuya is the king of the Sheep. In the shadow of the throne, the "strategist" quietly watches over every scheme and plot unfolding on Suribachi Street.
II
Mori Ougai's illegal clinic was practically becoming Edogawa Ranpo's second base. Sitting in a swivel chair, Ranpo held a silver scalpel between his fingers.
"Would you be interested in joining me?" Mori invited him.
Cold silver light flashed between the boy's fingers. Mori was Edogawa Ranpo's "ally". They exchanged information and shared power. But Mori's ambition kept growing, and he had set his sights on the Port Mafia. The other party promised him the highest position in the organization. Mori was determined to become its boss, and Edogawa Ranpo's mind would be his greatest asset.
The boy had no interest in any of it.
As the man spoke in a coaxing tone, he thought about what to eat that evening. He wanted daifuku, but he also wanted cake. Chuuya didn't like sweets, though, so in the end he decided to go eat ramen with him.
His mind was full of Nakahara Chuuya, and Mori's words went in one ear and out the other.
III
Nakahara Chuuya's power was running wild. The black beast was about to tear through his fragile body and enter the mortal realm. He clung tightly to the person who had depended on him for so long, letting black-and-red vines and tentacles wrap around his body.
They formed a pact, then shared authority and power.
He became a servant and devotee of the God of Calamity.
IV
Nakahara Chuuya's blood froze in an instant.
Standing in the shadows, he watched Edogawa Ranpo chatting and laughing with a silver-haired man. The man indulged the green-eyed cat's whims and promised to adopt him.
Chuuya stared at the long sword at the man's waist, and his memories burst forth in an instant. The blade was sharp enough to kill in a moment. Held in the man's hand, its tip pointed downward, its silver-white gleam cold and keen.
It was that sword.
He would never forget the day his "foster parents" were slaughtered by that long blade.
And the blood that covered the ground.
(A misunderstanding, the President didn't do it, look how desperately I'm trying to survive.)
V
Edogawa Ranpo started wandering when he was very young.
His parents died mysteriously, and the people around him accused him of bringing misfortune. Black fog coiled around him, and he was forced to endure the world's malice.
Super Deduction was never a gift from fate. It was the world's malice.
His mind was gradually falling apart.
He learned to put on an act, to hide, and to suppress his power.
He needed to find out how his parents had died and uncover the truth behind the incident.
VI
The green-eyed cat said, "I found a really good Host. Come with me, and we'll step into the light together."
The blue-eyed cat said, "No."
He wouldn't tell the other why, nor would he interfere with the other's choice. He and that man shared a blood feud: a grudge beyond reconciliation. But Ranpo was innocent, and he deserved a stable life.
He shouldn't sink into darkness.
VII
One turned toward darkness, the other stepped into the light.
They shared a path, yet went their separate ways.
VIII
In the end, their separate paths led them back to the same place.
Writing short pieces is so satisfying (?)
Basically, it's a story with some misunderstandings, but they make up in the end. Black-hearted Ranpo and an airheaded, sweet Chuuya (?), with a family focus, though you can ship them if you want (?).
Theme: Self-redemption.
