As a penniless writer who makes a living from writing, is buried in debt, and is especially fond of missing deadlines, Yan Daozhong Er spends every day wondering how to dodge his hapless creditors and hapless editor.
Then one day, inspired by someone, Yan Daozhong Er decides to contact his counterpart in another world and find a successful, wealthy version of himself to pay off his debts. They're the same person, after all. What's yours is mine.
After countless twists and turns, Yan Daozhong Er finally opens a passage to a parallel world and gets in touch with another version of himself.
Just as he thinks his enormous debts are about to disappear, the other version of him, who seems to have been waiting for this moment, greets him before he can even say a word:
"Hey, buddy. Finally got through to you."
"Quick, lend me some money. I need it to survive."
Yan Daozhong Er: ?
Is something not quite right here?

The parallel-world trope isn't original; it comes from an internet joke.
The protagonist is a stinking drunk, a chronic procrastinator, deep in debt, and fond of looking at pretty girls. He's simply the least successful version among trillions of parallel-world selves. Please don't project any fixed impressions of the original person onto him, or the protagonist will cry (not really)!
My heavily modified take on Yan Daozhong Er: OOC is inevitable, headcanons everywhere, absolutely no logic, grade-school writing, and bizarre elements. Please read with caution.
Theme: Keep your feet on the ground. You can't always look for shortcuts.
Really stuck Look, does the author still update?
