The Emperor Was Once the Aloof Beauty I Used to Toy With

Xie Weixing has the refined, untainted beauty of a green mountain and jade, elegant and compassionate, like an immortal banished to the mortal world who could never be sullied by worldly dust.

Yet the precious, pampered princess insists on dragging him into her world.

The princess is the emperor and empress's only daughter, born spoiled and used to getting whatever she wants.

She pursues him relentlessly. Their families pressure him.

Xie Weixing becomes the princess's plaything.

Later, he enters her world willingly, content to be her devoted servant.

At the time, Xie Weixing thinks the princess loves him.

But later, when envoys from a hundred kingdoms come to pay tribute, she spots a handsome young man from the Western Regions. Tossing down her wine cup, the princess laughs, "He should be mine."

Her confident gaze and smile are exactly the same as when she looked at him all those years ago.

Many years later, enemy forces breach Chang'an.

Eight hundred imperial guards surround the princess's wedding carriage.

The new emperor casually tosses down her husband's head.

Rumors about the princess's old flame spread through Chang'an once more.

Everyone knows the new emperor is Xie Weixing, the man the princess once abandoned.

Everyone thinks the princess is doomed.

No one knows how, in the darkness atop a tall tower, the once aloof and indifferent Son of Heaven holds the princess's foot and murmurs by her ear, his voice hoarse with satisfaction:

"Your Highness, my princess."
